Latest rumor on new CL

I talked to my salesman today who has been pretty dead on about all the stuff he has told me. He said the new styling in the front and back is going to be reminiscent of the Legend! Man, how much sweeter would our car look if it had a short snout (like the last model legend) and a less rounded but. I think we might be in for more changes than we expect.

I don't think Acura wants the new CL to become a slow seller and be in Limbo like the last CL.

I don't know why you guys are so interested in this subject! If the car changes, it changes! But if you ask for my 2 cents, I really doubt that the car is goning to change that much cosmeticly in it's 2nd year! I can see color change, window auto-up, 6 speed, and etc. but since it is going to change in 2003/2004 MAJOR REDESIGN!!! hint, hint that is when we will see a total different car for sure. So hold on to your great cars and Zaino them to death!

P.S. I am sure Wayne and Jens would tell us something if there was going to be a big change!

I'm not so sure. I drove by there today and all I saw was Wayne on a chair outside in the lot gesticulating violently to three or four guys who were around somebody thin and tall in a white smock whose head was under a portable barbecue.
Not sure but Wayne was giving orders waving some red bent tubing with a tiny-sized wastebasket thing on its end.

I agree. I've been around the industry for a long time. It is not cost effective to change a car that much in the second year. Your talking about 10's of millions in tooling, parts, implementation. And Honda has never been one to make too many changes too quickly.

You would only spend that kind of cash for a second year run if the vehicle was a complete and total disaster. {clearing throat} Aztec.....

i'm thinking that instaed of a 5 year cycle, the cl-s gonna only be 4 years 'cuz it was out for so long before 2001...so by the time they do change it, it'll already be 2 years old even though it's only a 1 year old by name.

think about it...the lag time between the new tl and cl was 2 years when it should've only been 1...so unless acura's gonna keep a 2 year lag, which i don't see why it would or should, it'll change 1 year after the new tl's 5 years, making this model only 4 years old by name (but 5 in actual time...4 years 11 months anyway). if it keeps that 2 year lag time, then that means this model would be out 6 years (by time...actually 5 years 11 months).

so i'm more apt to think the 01 models are actually late arriving 00 models, and using that timeframe for changes instead.

Maybe Soopa was thinking of the 1st gen. It looks really old today but the 2nd gen is a classic and still looks great today.

Front end of the 2nd gen looks alright, maybe a tad conservative. But I always thought the C-pillar and trunk looks somewhat awkward. Couldn't really put my finger on exactly what the "problem" was though. Maybe just the thickness of the C-pillar and the length of the trunk.

Just my opinion. That and a buck fifty will get a you a Starbuck coffee.
