Koni shocks and Comptech sways installed

Impressions:

1. Car feels incredibly tight. Even swinging out of the parking space in reverse I could tell there was less flex in the car.

2. Corners incredibly well--when you take a corner fast you no longer feel like your organs are smashing against your side.

3. high speed lane changes are a dream--just yank the wheel and you go. No delay to wait for the rest of the car to catch up.

4. Car feels slightly faster from a hard start since, once again, you don't have to wait for anything to catch up when you floor it.

5. Shocks are set at 50 front, 50 back right now. This is how the car should feel!!! If I didn't have the Z-rated tires it probably wouldn't feel much different than stock roughness-wise. The ride is still very smooth and really the only difference is that the annoying "bounce" that happens after hitting a dip etc is gone. Car goes down, car comes up--nice and tight.

6. I might even end up cranking the shocks up to 3/4. I can't imagine that the Konis would be much stiffer than stock at their lowest setting.

7. The stuff that came off my car looked like toys compared to the Konis and Comptech sways. The stock rear sway is the dinkiest looking thing I have ever seen.

8. Next week--35% titanium tint. Pictures to follow.

Seems your enjoying the disappearance of body roll that the sways now negate. Tracking is improved so much that spirited driving is possible with less risk. Can you say "brakes upgrade"?

Funny thing is that my mechanic reccommended getting new brakes next. Can you say one word: "EXPENSIVE"

Tint to look good and to keep the car cool (have to make sure I justify the reason I am getting tint in case Scalbert reads this) and CAI are next.

Also--without sticky tires the package will not be nearly complete.

JZ, be sure to set your back shocks a little stiffer than the front to improve the handling that much more, it will help the rear end come around the corners

Type S: Yes he will have had to get an alignment done when he got the sways put ont

Are you saying that your Potenza's aren't sticky enough?
Also are you going to go for the brakes? If you do please post ALL relevant info.

Btw stop wondering, your money is now going faster.

The Potenzas are sticky as hell!!!! No problems there. I was saying that doing all of this and keeping the stock tires would be a crying shame. The tires made more difference in the handling of the car than the springs in my opinion.

I don't want to mislead anyone about what I paid for an install. I have become pretty good friends with the head tech at my dealership and he does my work for me at his "own" shop. He charged me 160$ for the shocks and sways, but I gave him 210$. He also changes my oil for free after hours--of course I bring him the Mobil 1 and pay him the 15 bucks I would normally give the dealer--rather him have it that the dealer. Big key here is find out from your salesman who a good tech is, have him do your work and tip him well. Sooner or later you find out about the "shop on the side" once you can be trusted.

Congrats JZ! I told you so! J/K

Yeah, the corners and quick lane changes feel like the Bimmer after the sways. AMAZING!!!!

For those that are wondering about getting them, let me tell you...your car by default will handle better than the TL after the sway install the TL felt very stock like since the sways don't do dick on a straight but when you turn hard (in combo with wider tires) the TL was awesome! This mod is a must for all you crazy, always racing, "I think I'm gonna hit that wall on the turn" drivers!!! HAHA!
