Bah, give the coupe a few months and see how many complaints there are. If there aren't any, then great...but like he said, its new.

The material of the interior looks really cheap. I gotta go check this thing out once and for all.

Isn't this award only for new cars?? I don't mean the new year version, I mean any car that is brand new or has been redesigned is only eligible for this award.

I couldn't agree more. I've gotten used to the exterior (seeing it in person helped), but that interior....

As to crowning a king... "in the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king".

I'd rather have a CLS or BMW 330 (if price wasn't a concern).

I think the G35 is pretty sharp. Maybe it's 'cause I'm use to it because my brother has his sedan sitting in the garage next to my CLS. It's got quite the performance for a stock vehicle and drives pretty nice. I only wish he had a 6 speed manual.

Yeah, interior is alright...some things could be changed, but then again, there are things about the CLS interior that I'd like to see changed.

Well, I have come to accept the interior of being part of the cost-cutting to help keep the price down. This baby ownz for 32k, 330 is 8k more, CL-S is FWD, GTO not here yet.

Congrats Infiniti, now only if their more expensive cars won something.

Give the G35 props, It offers a lot of a little, just like the CLS/TLS. I agree that I prefer the Ac interior but the G35 is a pretty sharp car

I'm surprised. Don't get me wrong... I like the car... but I would have actually voted for either the Z or the Mini Cooper. Both are hot and new... and both created a huge buzz... much bigger then the G35.....

Big surprise...it was the G or the Z....with all the hype...and all the ass-kissing...it is a nice car with lots of value...I personally think the Mini has more of an impact....but rarely does a sub 25K win the Car of the Year Award.

Call me crazy but an Accord EX V6 for $27k offers quite a lot and will sell 10x as many as the G35.

MT states they choose by:
"overall significance, competitiveness within a market segment, and value for money. In making the selection, the editors evaluate many factors, including styling and design; fit, finish and materials; engineering and technology; interior; safety; performance; and value. "

Have you seen the G35 from the rear? yuck!

1st its MT, second, there really wasn't much out there that was new. I think the Mini had too many quality issues, and the new Z, well that was a close call. I personally don't like the Z at all, it looks like a chicks car, and those door handles have got to go. I think the G35 is one of the ugliest exteriors I have ever seen, I still can't warm up to the rear end. But seriously, what other options were there. The new Accord V-6 could have gotten it, but all of the auto mags say it is just too boring of a design, I remember readying one article saying Buick would be proud of the rear end design. I saw Buick would even have rejected it. .

So cuddos to the new king, but its more due to the lack of a viable alternative, than due to excellence of the G. Detroit hasn't put out anything worthy since the C5, and I suspect the GTO will be in the running next year. Next years should be exciting with the Lancer and WRX changes. This year was just another off year.

Kindof like the Cali governor, he won, but nobody liked him. THere was just no good alternative.

Actually on ratings, Acura is much higher than Infiniti on service levels. Also Lexus is #1, Acura is #2, Infiniti is about 10~

I think the G-35 deserves to be car of the year.

Based on its interior, it should be Car of the year for 1985
