Awesome night last night. I was coming home late last night from the bar and 2 guys are rolling buy me in a 99+ GT. We are in a 35 mph zone and they are revving and rolling in about 2nd gear. I hit it just playin once or twice then we come up to a light. I motion for them to go and they say no they want to get on the highway. I follow them onto the highway and we hit it at about 35 on the ramp. Mustang is pulling slightly I am following. By 100 I even it up, When I hit 4th gear he pulls just slightly again, by maybe 1/2 car. I even it again by 130 and start pulling nicely by 140, and I have him by about 2 cars after that, I stay on it until he shuts down. I had to be close to the speed limiter but I didn't hit it

I didn't get to see him again because by the time I coast down to about 90 I see these blueish lights flying up behind me. I know its not a cop because of the bulb color-not HID but probably silverstars or something. He gets beside me-a black last generation GTP. I'm like hell ya! I take off hard in 3rd gear around 80 or so. He stays even until I hit 4th, we are still even. I am like wtf? No bullshit I did not start pulling on this guy until I am doing 135-140 mph. By this time I am like 15 miles down the highway and have been racing like a psycho so I slow down give the GTP the thumbs up and get off the next exit to head back. I wonder what this guy had done? The GTP was much faster than the Mustang.

Insane speeds but the highway was literally desserted at 2am. What a rush! I never get to run the the car like that. I like my car like 10x more now but I wouldn't want to do that very often.

GTP'S are supercharged u prob raced a modified grand prix stock gtp are running 15 to 14 depenging on year

I'll believe he beat a GTP. In stock form GTP can be a dog. Nice kill on the GT though. Those I've noticed can be a tough kill. GTPs are kinda though until they get some nice new pullies... then they're

I have an S1X cam from intense-racing.com to install soon, and will be adding a LSD soon, and hopefully get my own custom IC done to i can drop down to a 2.75" pully. With that ill easily hit mid 12's, and that will be it for my engine. Start saving my pennies for an intense racing tranny and replacing my 100k original suspension.

 

Nice Runs .....given the 1/4 mile mph in your sig I'm assuming you pulled on the Gt up high so much because he had additional weight of the 2nd passenger in the car. I'm also thinking your car may be a little quicker then the 1/4 mile mph in your post...any one else agree?
Either way good kill- I think you woulda top ended the stang w/o the passenger, but not by so much.

What the hell? Damn, that's fast. You're even at 130... and you're pulling by 140? Damn, I don't doubt you won, since the mustang is a brick, but where the hell are you driving that fast??? You'd beat me in my car too at that speed, because by then I'd already have slowed the hell down!

The Mustang, if modded, is not a brick by any stretch of imagination... I'm not a FORD guy but you gotta give credit where it's due and I love the '03 Cobras!!

A dog? You drive a Civic? Or a CL? Either way you certainly have no grounds for calling a stock GTP a dog. And yeah, with his mods it's not too much of a stretch to believe he beat a GTP in a race from a roll (the GTP's weakness). If the GTP hung with him that well up top he would've ripped him a new one from a stop.

DOG?? Yeah OK, mid/high 14's is a DOG. I guess my Maxima is a dog. CL's? Dogs. TL's? Dogs. G35's? Dogs. Lexus GS 430's? Dogs. Man there sure are alot of dog cars out there. But let me guess, you're one of the high & mighty types that think that anything slower than 10's is slow.

Nice kills, but the GTP would probably get you from a launch pretty good and the GT would be alot more even. With stock gears GT's are dogs after thye have to shift into 4th gear, unless they have FI.

 

In my experience a stock GTP against me from a launch, from a roll, or whatever wouldn't have much of a shot at all unless I screw up. This GTP was obvioulsy modded and as mentioned above would probably fare much better against me if launched from a start but we will never know unless I see him again.

Also it seems when I race a 99+ GT (Mustang) from a launch I am usually behind (unless the guy can't drive) but gaining slowly until after 80mph or so I start passing. They launch so well it takes that long to regain the distance. Modded mustangs are another story.

Nice! I have been up at edgewater at least a couple times a month all summer. When it opens back up I will have to meet you down there.

 

mustangs have no top end whatsoever. especially if it has gears.
