is this kid full of it

a few days ago I was talking to a kid up at my college. he has a 60 something(don't know the exact year) Chevelle with a 400 CI motor(souped up). he claims he can run 11.4 almost every run without a bottle.(i think he's full of sh!t) I didn't ask him all of his mods but I know he doesn't run NOS cause we were talking about NOS and he doesn't "believe" in NOS. he might have a Supercharger for all i know.

now getting into the bigger B.S. story. He told me he was at a Chevy show car meet. and he beat a new Z06 BY 2 CAR LINKS.

Well, a good driver in a Z06 can run a 12.5 - 12.6. 2 car Lenghts more puts him almost in the low 12's.

11.4? on street tires?!? mabye... 11.4 with slicks is definetly possible.

Chevelle was pretty light so to speak. 3300lbs ish. (64-67 if I remember correctly)

A 500hp engine would do it. Definetly possible.

Oh ya, 500hp out of a 400CI SB is not rocket science. And actually not super $$ if you do the work yourself.

You can buy a fully assembeled (ready to drop in) stroked 350 (to 383CI) with 450hp for $3000-$4000 (thats a complete engine) Reworking an existing engine is not nearly as expensive.

Sure it's possible. Old american cars have unlimited possiblities to make them faster. With our acura's we've got two main mods both bolt on's headers and intake, plus a little tweaking here and there. But with an old motor you can get into to it's internals and also add the bolt ons. You can change cams, cranks, valvetrain, rocker arms, intake manifolds, carbs, mulitiple carbs, supercharger, exhaust manifolds, etc., etc. Plus non motor options like putting in higher stall torque convertors and changing rear end axle ratios. But to run 11's you've got to know your stuff and it takes plenty of cash. Ask him some real questions about his mods and you'll know if he's full of it or not.

My friend has a 89 Mustang with a Ford GT40 engine in it. The thing is completely bored and stroked out.... Low 11s on street tires.

Umm, pushing 500hp out of our 3.2 (for example) is not as easy N/A. (if at even possible N/A on pump gas)

Nor is there anywhere near the abundance of aftermarket parts like their is for Chevy.

HEHEHEHHEHEHHEHEHE There's no replacement for 40 years of mod parts available for a 40 year old car.

Kids nowadays, they just don't respect the older cars.

i thought the Z06 was a little faster than 12.5(not that a 12.5 isn't crazy fast) I thought that thing could do a 12 flat.
