K&N filter replacements for the CL-S
Questions to those of you who have purchased and installed the K&N filters for the stock airbox:
1. Did you notice any performance improvement?
2. Did you have a problem getting them in?
3. Are you concerned about them not cleaning the air as well as the stock filters?
Thanks...

I just installed mine two days ago. I haven't really seen any improvement in performance or gas mileage as of yet.
It was a bitch to get in!!! I don't care much at all for the filterbox design. I did have to trim the back edge a little, as well as the areas around the notches. What a pain in the butt!!!
I'm not worried at all about the airflow. K&N has a great rep!

That's a good question. Hell, I had to open and close the filterbox sooner or later, and that was the toughest part. I pulled the K&N out and tried putting the OEM back in and it was just as tough to close. I'll just have to wait a while to see if the K&N is all it's cracked up to be.
closing it was an absoulute bitch. at first i didn't know what was wrong and had the thing half way open. then at a stop my engine idled and died. after that i spend like 15 min at a subway parkinglot trying to get the thing closed. finally i called k&n and they suggested i trim some of the rubber off. and now it closes.

I know what you mean! Me and a buddy were standing there scratching our heads at what to do next. We didn't have too much trouble getting the forward flange back in, but that rear one was murder. After about 15-20 minutes of looking and prying we finally got it in too.

Here is the easy way to put it back together. Smear some silicon grease on the top flange of the K&N where the top half of the box contacts it and some on the tabs. Damn thing went together so easy this way that I took it apart again and put it back together just to make sure it was seated correctly.

i believe K&N air filter will help the air intake for more or less besides..the price is reasonable...just hard to replace them when u open and close your stock one...i believe the air will flow more fluently.
