K&N filter cleaning

Well, after crappy track times on friday I decided i need to make sure everything is working as it should. SO, i'm cleaning the cone filter on the CAI. I've had the CAI on for about 11k miles and parts of it are dirty and others are ok. Most of my driving on on the interstate that is populated by farms or houses or nothing so I guess i'm not to suprised.

I"m looking at the directions and it seems the job won't take more than an hour but maybe i'm wrong? Everybody that has done it before says about 3 for it to dry completely. Anybody else with experience??

I'm sure you can clean it a couple of times. I've heard from some people on the board who said the filter should be good for about 3 or cleaning if you do it every 15k.

Then again the filter is supposed to be good for a 1 million miles or something.

stupid question- but how do you clean the filter? My car only has 7,000 miles, but I'm curious. My dad made my CAI based on the AEM one
