K&N drop in filter, worth the money?

Hi all

I was just wondering if any of you had put in a K&N drop in filter. Is it worth the money? Is there any improvement to the performance at all? I wanted to put a real intake in but people told me that voids the warranty, so the drop in is the only thing left.

I was actually reading some web sites, some people say that the k&n drop in filter actually take in 2x more dust/dirt in the engine and can damage your engine... Do any of you know if thats true or not?

Here's a good topic you should read... lots of good info. Also touches on the amount of dirt that gets let through...

No matter what you read, I've been using K&N drop-in's in my last 4 cars. Very satisfied. Improvements in fuel economy, and filter longevity are the true benefits of these. The small additional HP gain is just icing on the cake.

Not much if any extra pull. But like others have said it slightly increases milage. And these cars can use help in that area.
Don't forget to slightly lube the plastic tabs of the cover before closing up the box.

I have yet to see any real improvement in gas milage or perfomance. It was worth it for me as i got it for only $5.90. :P There was a mistake in the Autozone system (was supposed to be $59.00). 6 bucks for a filter that'll last the life of my car.

DRM600 - Shame on you! :P A real tragety when computers go wack....

I think the fuel economy gains are realized on long haul 75 mph cruise control trips. All other times are spent in SS mode trying to bark the tires!

You should get a AEM CAI intake instead of the drop in filter. I was iffy about the CAI, now when installed I am really happy with it!
