So.. long story short... (but not really) i'm moving into a new apartment complex.
there's two parking structures. One street level, and one underground.
-I swear to God the underground parking one (which I have) is the driveway of Satan himself. It leads to the bowels of the earth, and has the most ridiculous steep drop taht I have ever seen in my life. If you can picture it, it's like, street level.. street level, up the curb slightly.. then DROP.
-In any case, I addressed this with the manager prior to lease signing. He basically said yeah, I can try to switch your spot in the underground lot with someone's up on the street level. I brought up how low my car actually was, and how absolutely impossible it would be for me to get down Satan's driveway.
-So yesterday when I sign the lease he says, oh, and your parking problem, there's nothing I can do for you. I don't want to switch around parking assignment and stuff, and shit and shit. And then he had to go and be a douche bag and tell me stuff like "if you want, I can give you all your money back, and you can move out." Of course I answer as politely as possible, and say it's fine, sorry for the trouble, etc. etc. But of course I'm thinking inside... how absolutely unnecessary it is for him to be saying such stupid shit as this.
-In any case, I go and get the garage door opener and keys from him today. And I come into the lower parking garage. I KNOW I'm going to scrape, and basically, in a snail's pace... crawl on in, and BOOM. undercarriage scrapage. Big time. I freak out, and scrape on my way trying to back out. Some guy that saw the whole thing (and my embarassment) suggested for me to go in backwards... which I did. And well, surprise surprise. I scrape. In the middle of the scrapage, I get out of the car and check to see just how much non-clearance I have. Absolutely none. It was a softer scrape, but a scrape nonetheless.
-If you can picture what I'm describing right now, basically... It's like a see-saw. My car is the see-saw.
-So I call up the manager again, and told him, I absolutely cannot get into the lower garage, is there absolutely ANYTHING you can do to help me out. He spits the same lines, telling me to go slowly or something, and how he's never had this problem before and this and that and this and that. Oh, and he threw out the line again saying how if I want, he'll return all our money and we can find someplace else if I want. I'm obviously not going to do that though cause that's retarded.
-So he finally agress to possibly help out. But says to me: "I'll talk to some tenants, but it might cost you $50. His english sucks, so he didn't specify 50/month or one time fee for this "extremely difficult process." I say to myself... can I @least talk you down to $25? $50 is a lot of money. He says possibly.
-So now I need to raise the car. I'm pretty slammed on Tein basics and @ 1 finger gap in front and .5 gap in the back. I've never had a bottoming out problem before, but it looks like Satan's driveway has done it for me. I'm just frekaing out cause I have no idea how much I'm able to drop the car now... for those w/ the tein basics, how many mm are you dropped with the coilovers, right now my fronts are set @ 25, and the rear are @ 30.. I might bring it back up to 35mm and 35mm... but it'll feel like I'm in a fucking SUV....
-Cliff notes:
New apartment.
-Underground parking structure led down to by Satan's driveway. Tried to switch spots in underground with street level w/ manager. But manager ends up being an ass about it.
-Went to test out underground parking with Satan's ramp, and scraped the undercarriage of my car.
-Call manager back up and he throws a fit and talks about charging me $50 to switch parking with someone in the upper level.
-Now need to lower car, but by how much not sure...

F him, use the cement! He's a lying prick anyway. If he tells you to remove it, tell him to pay you $50/month or he can move out.

he's the manager. and I figured it was the cat... I'm not sure what exactly I was scraping. I'm definitely raising the car up though until I can figure something out.
Drifting
call the company that owns it and complain. tell them that the appartment manager will not help. and tell them the he is taking bribes and then check into his status as a resident in this country.

Good idea about calling the company. Also make sure to tell them that the sucker lied to you about doing something about the situation b4 signing. Hammer the point home that you wouldn't have moved in knowing you couldn't safely get your car in the damn garage.
Burning Brakes
Here's what he's describing:

That was my 2000 Civic DX... I had about 1 inch ground clearance on my front lip. When that picture was taken, you could rock the car back & forth on that bump.

JUMP ITTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol
I had a similar situation today. i was a honda dealership having them install soem trunk springs and I could have gone out the way I came in, but a van was parked in the way, so I had to use a back exit, and almost becamea seesaw myself, but at the first scrape sound I put it in a reverse and asked a passing salesman if there was an alternat exit "because it was too steep", and he said "what? you can't ge tup it's too steep?" and I was like "wtf? no. I can't get over because my car is too low and the exhaust is scraping", and he pointed me in another direction.
I have those entrance/exit places for parking lots that are like / \ ...oh well. gotta get used to it.

As frustrating as these situations are, I guess we have to keep in mind that our roads are designed for non-modified vehicles. Problems such as scraping over driveways and speedbumps are a direct consequence of having a lowered ride height.
It just sucks when people in authority that can do something to help out are being d*ck's about the situation.

Ouch. That sucks. Same thing happened in my Accord. I bottomed the fluck out of my car when I was in mid town, trying to go to a hospital. Not much fun. I had to have a truck pull me off. hehe. I had to buy a new exhaust.

Hah, freakin' 03... that shit is LOOOW. I'm not describing that though. Seriously. If you walked down this driveway and weren't looking down. You'd seriously swear you fell off a fucking cliff.Originally Posted by 03 CL TypeS

lol, I know what you are talking about time for sleep, I've seen slopes like that. I just turned arounda found a different parking lot. unforutnatley you don't have that option.
Update:
Not sure if this guy is just a manager, or if he actally owns the building. I'll double check for sure though. But would my argument really hold ground with this? The parking spaces are pre-designated, and there wasn't a signed agreement saying he would switch that shit up for me... he just kinda said: "yeah, sure" in a thick middle eastern accent.
So update on the situation:
Raised my car a bit... which puts me @ 30mm in the front and 30 mm in the back. Feels like I'm riding an SUV and pointing straihgt up in the air...
tried to go back. Scraped. Tried to go backwards... and scraped again. So I raised up to 35 and 35 and I'm sittin' @ about 2 finger gap in front, and 1.75 in the back.
On my way out... I scraped the catverter again. All I could do was curse my possibly illegal immigrant of a building manager and drive my 4x4 back home in shame.
So instead of partying tonight, I get to spend some more quality time w/ the car, raise it up to 45mm-45mm... or possibly 50mm/50mm.... quite possibly putting me back @ stock height.
I'm real glad I bought these tein coilovers...
No but honestly. I'm glad they're adjustable... hah.
But while I'm riding in my CL-s 4x4 edition, I'm going to be putting notes up on cars and begging people in the street level structure to trade places with my spot. Down in hell below.
*btw*... every car down in the underground structure had a wheel gap of a fist to a fist and a half @least.
cliff notes....
raised the car and scraped on the way in. clenched up and drove on in and raised it a bit more. scraped again. now will be raising it almost to stock height.
i'll be the only CL riding on stock CL height but w/ tein coilovers...

LMAO, defeats half the purpose of coilovers, lol.
you should try talking to your neighbors yourself adn explaining yoru dilemma, and asking if they'd be willing to swap.

That's a scary image. Actually, it reminds me of the fast and the furious in that race scene when Paul Walker loses his car to Vin Diesel.
Updated situation:
The day just keeps getting worse.
Started circa 10:00pm with raising the whole car one more time.
Decided to go from 35 mm to a full 50 mm on all four corners of the car.
Driver's side front and back done, move on to the passenger's side front end... and what do you know. The car jack that the car came with... just won't fucking work anymore. It basically just stopped loosening up, and said to me: "nope. I'm done. I'm broke. You're shit out of luck buddy."
-It was as if the jaws of life had gripped and taken hold of my poor factory car jack and would not let go despite all the sweating and the absolute herculean strength I was attempting to display to get that shit to loose up.
-So I gave up, tossed that shit in my trunk, and am sitting @ 35mm on the passenger front corner, while all the other corners are @ 50.
-I go back to tackle the hill around 11:30pm... and what do you know. I scrape again. But this time.. only ever so slightly.
-I'm running around three finger gaps all around now... even the passenger side corner that I didn't get a chance to adjust.
-So now I need to find a car jack and some jackstands so I can finish this shit up.
. Stock height on Tein Basics here I come...
*and I know it's dangerous to be doing adjustment work on a simple car jack. I know I'm an idiot, but honestly, I worked with what I had. If anyone has a car jack and jack stand they can loan to me for an hour or two, I would very much appreciate it. (Los Angeles area)*
-Cliff notes:
-Raised car to almost stock height (3 finger gaps all around)
-coudln't finish one corner because of broken car jack.
-tried to tackle driveway one more time
-scraped the cat again. ever... so.. slightly.
-now in need of carjack and jackstands to get job finished.

Oh wow. I'm real sorry to hear that. If I still lived in Riverside, I'd be more than happy to bring the jack and stands to you. Good luck with that. May be you should have taken your money back :P just kidding. Have you inspected your under-carriage yet?
That I have not. According to pumped, I should be okay.
But the next time I head into the Acura dealership (I have a bunch of minor warranty issues I wanna address w/ 'em), I'm going to have them look @ the underbody, make sure the catalytic converter isn't all janky lookin'.

New car jack........................20$
New catt..............................700$
Useless lowering kit.............600$
Therapy and rehabilitation...........100$ a session
Total costs to you..................1420$ approx
Moving out and finding another apartment maybe staying at a motel......300$
I would move the fuck out....................
I've been there. I lived in an upstairs of a house where the downstairs people smoked 24/7 and the smell was sickening. Suppose to be a non smoking house, landlord didn't do shit. So I bought 22 inch Cerwin Vegas and pounded all night long and when they complained I said quit your smoking I'll turn them down. They eventually moved out.
Your case is different, you rented when you knew the ramp was too steep. I had rented for over 10 years 6 different landlords and only one wasn't a lying sack of shit.

Well, I rented w/ the knowledge that the landlord would try to do something about the parking situation. Up until the point of signing the lease and handing the keys over is when he said: "NOPE. CAN'T MOVE YOUR SPOT."
-And I can't park on the street. This is west Los Angeles near UCLA. Any and every street parking area is either 2 hours, or requires you to move your car because of street cleaning. Not to mention the fact that parking spaces are very far and few in between...
-Anyways, I have two prospects taht might want to change parking spots. I'm going to stalk them everyday until I can get their spots.
UPDATE:
-According to my pops, the slight scraping is coming from my catback Y pipe...
. The cat converter is fine now, so I think all I have to do is raise the back a bit and I'm relatively in the clear.
-I start stalking tomorrow...
thx for listening to me complain everyone =P.

Yup, that's pretty much the story with a majority of them. But since now that I've stopped renting, I've got the local homeowners association to worry about. I'm just waiting for them to send me a letter about the exhaust on my civic.....Originally Posted by SilverCL97
