Just ordered a Black CL Type S

Well, thanks to "devnull", I am now the future owner of a 2003 CL Type S with Navi (at a great price as well!)

Black on Black....it will be leaving the factory on June 14th and I should have it by the end of June!

(Same car as devnull)

Of course, I now have to give it "more power"....

Can't wait!

(Now I just have to sell my Audi A6 before the end of June!)

Congrats!!!

I think this is the first new 6spd owner, that I can recall, that drove both the CL 6spd and the Accord 6spd. What was it about the Accord that you didn't like that made you side with the CL???

I'm just curious...

Well....actually I drove the Accord 6 speed the week they came out. The dealer only had one and it was sold already. I liked it so much I then went and bought the CL 6 speed.
The Accord was the best Accord I'd ever driven, reminded me some of my Prelude I had. It felt very fast and light. But I wanted the CL, but the Accord helped me make the decision, that Honda makes the best V6/manual shift combos anywhere.

The Accord 6spd was nice and I was considering it. I felt that the shifting seemed slightly smoother in the CL and the CL cornered slightly better. (some of this could have been in my mind since I liked the sleekness of the CL slightly better than the Accord from the onset). When sitting in the backseat, the CL was much more comfortable. The other thing was the CL has a better engine sound, IMO (that rumble as you punch the gas). I do like the Accord's Navi better.

That being said, I might have picked the Accord over the CL if the price had been better. The price of the Accord 6spd with Navi (and 5 spd, for that matter) is $28,360 (sticker) and the dealer would not budge on the price. They told me that they were hard to come by, and the sticker price was what I would pay.

When comparing the Accord at sticker price to the CL at a $3200 discount from sticker there was only a $1639 difference. This was not nearly enough to make me decide on the Accord. If the differece was $3000 or more, than I would have leaned towards the Accord.

I would think that yours will be one of the last CLs made. At least, until the next (?) generation comes out!

Sweet, that is nice

Looks like you'll have one of the last of the 6spds. I was curious if they were still taking orders.

Looks like you paid about the same as I did for my 6spd (mine doesn't have navi tho')

With the CLS being a great value to being with, it looks like you got a better then great deal.

The waiting must be killing you...

Yeah, the wait is going to be excrusiating!

Now, I will have to find out when they stop production.....it would really be cool to be THE last one out of the plant (not likely, but cool!)

It will most definitly be one of the last. They are no longer taking orders for this car, and are simply depleting existing tickets. The assembly line is still running, but the orders are in (from what I hear).

unixadm got one of the best deals around, even BETTER THAN MINE!!!!!!

Now let's see if he is man enough to mod the thing....

How much was it out the door with taxes, add-ons etc? A dealer I'm dealing with today is saying that is not an accurate price.
He did go down to $30,600 with my trade at a certain price, not sure if he'll stick to that if I didn't trade in. You know how they work the numbers around to get what they want no matter what prices they are spewing.

His absolute price (pre-tax) was $29,999 no BS.

PM me and I'll give you info....

bottom line is with the $1000 rebate, the dealer makes $300.... At $30,600, they would make $900.

No trade in, no messing with numbers, no financing through them, and no bullsh*t dealer add-ons.

From the invoice:
Order For: '03 Acura CL-S - 6 Sp. Navi
Body Type: Coupe Color: Black
To Be Delivered on or About: 6/26/03

Total Price of Vehicle: $29,999.00
Total Taxable Amount: $29,999.00
State Sales Tax: $ 1799.00
Registration/Title Fee: $ 44.50
Documentary Fee: $ 78.00

TOTAL: $31,921.44 out the door

(and remember, this is BRAND new....will be just out of the factory, so it won't have been sitting on a lot, or test driven!)

Congrats on a great car. I also would like to remind everyon that back in Feb - March all the dealers were telling everyone that no more 6 speeds were being made. (I did not believe it because mine was being built in March). Once again for those who dont yet get it. Sales people are either uninformed or liars. Don't ever believe what they say.

Great deal!, the dealers here are so bad. The rep admitted to me he didn't know the CL was discontinued, he'd heard rumors.
What nuts.
I got my white no-navi 6 speed 3 months ago for $27250 pre-tax.
Was used, 3k miles + the added year of warranty. Pretty good deal but now that I want to sell it I'm going to lose some $.
I'm trying to upgrade to a new one, dif color with Navi.
Dealers are offering me $23-24k for it, no way. I'm not that desperate. But keeping all my options open for now.

Well good job!! I drive my black CLS 6spd by the factory daily (work with HAM). Got it last summer for 29,000 out the door @ 4% financing (without Navi)-- bought it off the display floor Saturday morning in 20 minutes -- no BS -- and had it delivered 30 miles away Monday evening to my home! Only problem has been the OEM tires always pulled and worse after tire rotation. Wound up getting new rims -- OZ Superleggera and 235/45/17 PilotSport AS tires which cured the problem -- and Discount Tire got about half off by sending tires back to Michelin.
