Just got done installing my new subwoofers and amp. They are 2 JL Audio 10" W3's. The amp is a MTX 6500D Monoblock amplifier.

Finally the steroe system sounds complete. I was not looking for a HUGE ghetto thump. I was more interested in adding some base to the "bose blows" system.

For anyone who is interested in upgrading thier stereo sytem.....I would recommend doing this upgrade!!

Good stuff. How did you wire the subs and amp into the head unit? Bose speakers run a 1 ohm load and I don't know of anything else that does. So how did you get them to be compatible?

 

Well, the guys at the shop where i got it installed tapped into the signal from the rear speakers for the signal to the amp (that way, you don't have to mess with the stock amp). Otherwise, they said it was a pretty simple job. It sounds great!

That was a smart idea. Cool, now I can add a sub too. I've been wanting to do it but couldn't afford to gut the whole stereo. (didn't really want to either) Thanks.

 

Exactly what I did. There is a little trade-off. If you pay very closed attention, sometimes, your rear speakers (if you dont disconnect them) would make some static sound. I dont know it would help if you install a RCA converter and use RCA input instead of high impedance input on your amp.

I had the same thing done a year ago when I purchased my CLS. I go to Motor Music in Concord California. I put in a JL 10" and it run by a 250 watt Fosgate amp. It did the trick !
