And what an excellent job he did! Thanks again to Ron & Steve. Watching videos in traffic is great!

I think a video decoder would let you watch DVD movies on your NAVI.

It lets you plug in a video source into you Navi screen. I think its like 200 for the kit.

The kit can be purchased through SteveStMS@aol.com

The "deluxe" kit (meaning with Audio) includes an NTSC -> RGB video decoder allowing you to view a video signal on your navi.

It also includes an RM Modulator to allow you to listen to the audio on your stock headunit.

YOU WILL NEED: A device to output video. Such as a portable DVD player or TV tuner. I will be using my PlayStation 2.

I hear this kit isnt very difficult to install. But I suck at this type of shit... so I'd rather pay Ron to do it.

Check this post in our Audio/Video forum for pics & other info:

I kinda suck at major electronic installs too; but I live too far away so I would have to give it shot myself. I'm that close to considering it. Simply for the coolness factor.

I know I ask so many questions but here's another. Will this cause any damage to the Nav screen, burn it out or something? I think it's awsome but I was just wondering about how long it would last. Thanks for puttin up with me.

It has been being used by many and hasnt caused any negative affects.

If ya ask my opinion... I dont see HOW it could cause damage.

The nav screen is a LCD that displays RGB input...

It is essentially doing the SAME thing no matter what colors it is displaying the entire time its on.

I only see a risk of problems if you turn your car into your familys home theater.

... Just dont let your kids touch the screen with their buttery fingers. ick!

Isn't our navi screen only capable of displaying 256 colors? That would look shitty for watching DVD movies.

You can use anything with composite output (those yellow/red/white wires) so yes, a PS1 will work.

If your confident enough in yourself to take apart your dash... then you can install it yourself.

Otherwise just bring the instructions to a stereo shop and have them do it.

I already answered this. We have a full color display.

But... how does 16-color display, play video?

Hmm... something is wrong there.
