Just Got my TL back installed with the CT Flywheel and Clutch..
The car is scary
I just got the car back 20 minutes ago, but I've been driving a pretty fooked up car for the past few months. I found out my pressure plate was FUBAR probably a long time ago. There was about half an inch to an inch of play on the teeth of the pressure plate. The clutch engagement is much different now, and It feels like I need to get used to the clutch engagement all over again. Revving is phenomenally quicker, it just goes from 0-redline in what feels like under a second (I might be dreaming, someone correct me). It's a lot more fun to drive now though.
With the new clutch and flywheel installed, what is the break in period? I also smelled a bit of the clutch burning, is this normal for the rest of you?
I got another question for you guys as well. For the clutch, i noticed that my clutch is further up versus the two other pedals. the gas and brake pedals are lined up, but the clutch is about an inch up higher. Any way to adjust that?

the clutch would never be fully engaged so it slip easier, and you wear out the throwout bearing extremely fast, cause they are not designed to always have pressure pushing against them
BTW: if you are that despirate to have it matching you could cut the pedal off and weld itback on in a lower position, but then it proably won't fully disengage, so then it like's you are slipping the clutch all the time and it won't go into gears easy especially reverse
so i would say, just leave it alone and forgot about the height difference

I kno you have a third gen so you probably don't know second gen TL's never came with a manual trans. And usually when ur skeptical about someones car you look at their garage which would of gave you your answer. I'm gonna start using red text from now on..

WHO IN THE WORLD WOULD ACTUALLY DO A SEARCH FOR SOMEONE'S GARAGE FOR SOMETHING AS SMALL AS A THREAD POST?
IF YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT GARAGES, WHY DON'T YOU AND THE OP BOTH HAVE A GARAGE? HOW IN THE WORLD ARE PEOPLE SUPPOSED TO SEARCH FOR SOMETHING THAT DOESN'T EXIST?
friesm2000 is right. This is why I was confused in the first place? Who in the world would go SEARCHING for a garage?
Look under YOUR username, and the OP's username. Tell me where the garage is?
It makes absolutely no sense.

What garage are we talking about here?

all im saying is that when you walked into this thread you were like "tl? 6speed? cl section? wtf lawl"
then you would of looked at his garage to see maybe hes in the wrong forum? he probably has a 3rd gen 6 speed. then you would of seen said "oh man he doesnt have a garage, how inconvenient" then you'd immediately see above where his garage is supposed to be "I have a 03 TL-S 6MT" which would of answered you're initial surprise and not compelled you to ask why are u posting this in the CL section.

I know what you're saying, but like you said, I didn't know he did a CL 6-speed swap. It never even entered into my mind.
Like I said, it's all good, man. I'm just a .

i did not even look at op's garage , cause i saw that he had a 6 speed under his username so i never looked at his garage
btw: it might be worth it DC3328 to only say that you are from South Florida instead Miami (even though maimi has millions of people)

Sorry about the supermofo late replies. The clutch and flywheel costed me under 700 cuz i pieced it together. Flywheel bolts another 80 bucks. Oem Pressure plate + clutch combo costed me anohter 300. 500 in labor. comes out about 1600. but the clutch disk i can sell so about 500. factor in the cost of a new kit. i saved myself about 700-800 dollars

I don't think you'll see an increase in mileage due to the flywheel combo. I've had mine for around 75K miles.
I sometimes will see an increase in mileage after I reset my ECU if I baby it for a while though.
