Just got in accident, what would YOU do?
dude, isn't this your second accident? why would u even CONCEIVE to drive with no insurance while drinking and smoking?! just stay outta that car! i haven't driven my car since march since at that time it had no insurance. it finally got insured this week. dont be dumb, there are so many people that are ten times dumber and would only end up hitting you or making you hit them
You did the best thing. You'd have to pay for your car to be fixed on your own regardless. Getting the cops involved would have caused nothing but problems. I was in a rear end collision where it was obviously not my fault, the officed agreed, and our own insurance companies fix our own cars. But since you don't have insurance that wouldn't have worked out for you. Considering your situation, I think you did the best thing.
Wow, a heated debate! Wahoo!
Jayru, if you get out of this without any problems, consider yourself extremely lucky. Drinking and smoking while driving, that's just plain ASKING for an accident and jail time. Don't even think about doing that anymore!
On the other hand, if she really had nothing wrong with her car, most people (now I'm not talking about low-lifes that want to sue everyone for everything) will just forget about a little scratch or so. The witnesses in the left hand lane most likely left the scene already. So I'm guessing nothing will happen of it.
However, worst case, she calls the police, ID's your general appearance. Cops find out that there aren't many CL's around your area and check all "males, aged XX, race XX, etc.." and track you down. She claims injuries (whiplash) and hit and run of course. You deny everything, they match your bumper damage to her bumper damage (assuming you haven't fixed it yet). And you go to jail.
Personally, I think both of you are to blame, she definitely was stupid for getting out of her turn lane, but I see people do that all the time (reading the posts, it looks like she turned right before she was in the intersection, then you hit her while she was turning right?), you gotta slow down a little at intersections anyway, regardless of the posted speed limit, you were above! What if some truck times the other light and runs the yellow to make it? You would be dead!
Anyway, good luck, hope she doesn't really want to though all the trouble for a little scratch and you've learned your lesson.

I don't think you're screwed, either. Your two mistakes were 1) not having new insurance before dropping your old insurance, and 2) flying past all that stopped traffic.
I assume that you live in a state where insurance is required. Otherwise, I would have simply filed an accident report. There is no cop in the world that is going to arrest you for having two beers without a breathalizer, and if you weigh over a hundred pounds that should not be a problem. As for the pipe, unless it's a three foot Graphix bong, how would anyone see it?
A good driver always assumes that everyone else is an idiot, and they are going to pull out in front of you (here in Wisconsin they are all idiots!). I ride a motorcycle and nothing teaches you more about defensive driving than that.
Get some insurance and watch out for the other guy.

What would I have done????? I probably would have stayed at the scene of the accidne and taken it up the ass with a ticket (which probably would have been REALLY serious given the circumstances...ie. alcohal breath, pipe, sans the insurence, etc.). I'm partial to both points of view. Both valid. One risky (not me), the other moral and proper. Still doing the good thing by staying, probably would have hurt quite a bit in the long run. No insurance is some serious shit and the cop would have nailed you for that regardless of who's fault it was (hers..IMO).
But seriously though...it sounds like she's a stupid broad that, more than likely, had no business on the road. My question is, who's the fag husband letting her drive?!?!?!?!?! WOW.

there is allways a way for her to find out your plate number(either someone else saw your plate or its on film.) but imo, if she saw your plate i think you would be busted aready..
so dont drive your cl around for a couple of weeks..!!!! or you gonna get fucking caught.!! trust me...!!!! keep your cl hidden in a garage..if the accident was near your house..
or just go to the cops and confess b4 it gets worse..(but your taking a risk bc you dont have insurance..but hit and run is a serious charge. so make your decsion wise.)
hope everything goes well.. but if i was you i probley wouldnt be able to go to sleep for awhile...

Well, now that you've "left the scene" you just better lay low and hope this doesn't find its way back to you, or you are in serious shit my friend. That's 2 for you.
Maybe get a slower car?? Not to say I haven't done some stupid things, but good rule of thumb is never carry paraphernalia in vehicle.................</STRONG>

I still don't agree with you about the rear end situation. I can think of at least 10 scenarios where it wouldn't make sense to have the person who rear ended someone else be responsible at all. ...snip...snip...snip...</STRONG>

"Car B" is entering the same curving on-ramp to ENTER the highway. Around the curve in REVERSE comes "Car A", who is trying to get off the curving (blind) on-ramp by going in the wrong direction.
"Car B" hits the brakes. But since the roadway is wet and since the on-ramp is curved and thus blind "Car B" cannot stop in time and hits "Car A" in the rear.
Who is at fault....LEGALLY?
If you guessed "Car B" than your correct. You see I was the driver of "Car B" and I was quite surprised to see a car BACKING DOWN an on-ramp that was curved and thus partially blinding towards what was in front. The cops were incredulous as to the driving of the car backing off a highway on-ramp and they described in their report exactly how it happened. The driver of the other car whom was going BACKWARDS admitted that he was going backwards to the cops and they included that in their report. (hell, they even issued a ticket to the other driver).
Result: I was at fault.
Consequently, I am fairly certain, at least in the part of the country where I currently live, that hitting someone in the rear means that the driver of the rear most car is ALWAYS considered to be at fault.
Actually I almost do not want to post any advice on what to do because even though the arrogance and selfishness of some people is UNBELIEVEABLE I think that to escape any responsibilty they might listen. But I cannot resist.
Yes as already mentioned by somebody with brains. It doesn't take a quantum leap of intelligence on the part of the cops and or the DMV to connect a very recent hit and run accident with somebody falsely reporting his plates stolen. So yes, I'd think you should.
ps: Kensteele, now this is another fine post in which to test your age quotient influence.

Since the kid hasn't replied I'm assuming he's already gotten busted...
Whats even stupider is to come on a web board and tell the world about it. If the lady is an internet junkie, and has found this site, then the kid is REALLY FUCKED.

It's alright though. Sometimes.
