Just got an 01 CL-S, suggestion on thorough checkup?
I just got back from the DMV and I now have an 01 CL-S with 140k miles on it. She looks pretty stock except for some tint. The tranny was replaced after 2005. It currently has the SRS always on bug, and a scratch that i just noticed on the bottom of the front fender.
Needs detailing, but other than that not bad.
What would you guys suggest for a thorough inspection for things that need maintenance? I do know that it hasn't had the timing belt replaced yet.
Also, suggestions on some nice 18"s would be nice. The ones on there are obviously a bit scratched.
Nice to meet you all. I hope I can bring some neat things to the community.

the SRS light might be covered under this recall.

also there is a way you can reset the light yourself but i can't seem to locate the instructions.

Take the MES connector out, it's a yellow plug on the drivers side fuse box (above the brake pedal) and connect it with a paper clip or wire. turn your car to on and wait for the SRS light to turn off (~6sec), and then disconnect the short you just made. the srs will turn on again, and reconnect it. after it turns off again, reconnect it and srs light should blink twice.

Cool, I'll try to run by an acura dealership in the next couple days. The srs thing is under warranty. I plan to get that taken care of asap.
It was 6500$, so not too bad. Also it looks pretty darned nice inside and out. I just hope all the internals are holding up well.

SRS may not be covered under warranty. it only covers certain DTC codes, and if you get the code pulled and it's not one of them, you're getting it fixed from your wallet
got a question for you though, does the 'Side Airbag Off' light turn on when you lean on the passenger side bolster going towards the window? my SRS light is on as well, i couldn't reset it, but the OPDS seems to be working because my side airbag off light turns on if my gf is leaning out.

the airbag light is a common problem i've seen around here before...and it doesnt just happen on Cl'S!!! it happens on most honda vehicles pre-2006ish...has nothing to do with your SRS light...so thats just a little relief for you.

Link to Maintainance Schedule is here:

You might want to do some of the long term stuff like the timing belt, etc (105K maintenance) since if they didn't do the timing belt, who know what else they skipped.
Also check out the links in my signature. Most n00b questions are covered there....

I dropped it off at the dealership next door this morning for a detailing (previous owner had a kid) and a checkup. Depending on what they see I'll be getting a mechanic friend of mine to do the long term service.
One thing I did notice is that when the car is first started it makes a noise when it goes into second and third gear for the first time (automatic mode). It doesn't do that again until it's restarted, but it's definitely odd. It sounds sorta like a motor engaging or a whirring noise. I'll probably start a thread asking about that.
