Just in case you didn't know....

We are not looking to pay for hosting. There is no way Soopa or I can afford to host this site the way it is being hosted now. So, please, all of you that have either sent me emails with "deals" for hosting or pointed your finger to a company we could use, thank you but that is not what we are looking for. If we can not get someone to host the site for free we will have to turn it off.

Instead of turning it off, how about amalgamating with another CL site. I think there are at least 2 others out there, maybe more?? Al

This board is too valuable. I'm willing to pay whatever we need to pay. Pardon the pun but let's buy some time right now. Hmmmm, i'm having a site hosted and maybe we could transfer just the BB part of the site over just so we have text and nothing else. Might be a solution until we can figure something out.

Yeah we just need the connection to the net basically i think. We have the server ourselves, and a lot of hosts will not let you send your own server over there to have them plug it in for you. As for taking just the ubb part and putting it on someone elses site, that is a whole lot of load on your providers server. I am not sure if that would be any better, but then again, I am not toker or soopa so..

Oh, I also forgot...I am pretty sure, 98% sure, that we will not be joining up with another board. We have already had that in the past and well, I think we are best if we are alone.

Doesn't anyone have 768K upload and download speed DSL???? I had it in my old house but I just moved and now I have dialup! My DSL was like $70/month and it easily had enough bandwidth to host this server.

Anyone out there???

What I want to know is how much it'd cost to host this site a month at it's current capacity..... I'm not speaking for all of us, but collectively, I think we can pay for the bill if it's not too much...

if we do end up having to pay for bandwidth. the postwhoring better come to a end. I'm not going to be paying for somebody just so they can see their post count climb. What about taking the list to an email thread group like www.egroups.com? It is free plus you also get a free chat room. But the downside is that you would get 80 emails a day unless you get digest mode. Then you would just get one large email a day with all the disscussions. That can be a temporary solution to our dilema.

I know you guys don't want to commercialize the site, but if it comes down to it, I'd rather have a commercialized Acura-CL.com than no Acura-CL.com. If no solution is found, just get some sponsors to help keep the site up. It doesn't have to get that bad, I mean, Acura-TL.com is still a great site.

Well, since WebToker doesn't respond to IMs, I'll post this here.

I've posted this three times before. If no admin gives this the time of day again, I'll never mention it again, and just have my mourning somewhere else if acura-cl.com goes belly-up.

I _HAVE_ paid for space on readyhosting that gives me cgi capability. You DON'T have to pay for it. I will. Use it until you get your space.

At least it would be up without concerns now and allow you to focus on really finding a permanent fix rather than scurrying around like roaches every time someone turns on the light.

$170.144 USD for fiber-optics cable with unlimited data transfer.

i was gonna make a thread, but after reading this...then i guess its useless....

that is with a company called www.mazdaq.com someone there, owes me a favour, that is their cost price.
