Anyway now i need to find out how to out the damn thing on hehe. o well someone on here can give me the plan on how to mold it on.Right? I tryed the search but nothing comes up.

I have a couple of questions:

1) I noticed that you bought the painted TL body kit. Since this kit needs to be cut and repainted to fit the CL, couldn't you have gotten the kit unpainted for less.

2) I noticed that you have "comptech sways" and "comptech sways ties and struts" listed for mods. Do you mean "comptech strutbar and konis"? I've never heard of "comptech sways ties" or "comptech struts".

Someone earlier on this forum had the TL body kit installed on their CL. They said the body kit needed to be repainted because it had to be cut in order to fit the CL. So they had bought the unpainted body kit for a couple of hundred $$$ less.

it needs to be painted after it's modified. it's a waste of $ buying it already painted.

and...

Ask CLS2001_97124 about this. Here's some of what he said...

Re: TL Body Kit
Sure, I'd be happy to answer your questions. Please see my reply.

I just talked with Pleasanton Acura and they can still get the TL body kit for 2001 - 2003 for around $1200. The one I'm interested in comes painted in anthracite metalic and has the same paint batch number as my antracite 03 CLS.

I looked at your posting in "2nd Gen gallary" forum but still have a couple of questions if you don't mind.

1) Will the customization of the already painted (possibly already color matched) body kit require repainting it?

Yes, that is why I do not recommend getting it pre painted, also $1200 is a bit high, you can find them for around $850

2) What type of customization is required to make the body kit fit? Is this something I could do myself in my driveway understanding that I'm not very good at body work? Or would you recommend taking it to a body shop?

for sure not a drive way job, I would get a shop to do it. After all, it is an Acura.. don't want to look to ghetto. As far as what needs to be done, if you take it to a body shop who is willing to do the job, I'm more than positive that they can figure it out. But what it comes down to is this, first you have to make the front and rear longer than it is, then you have to shorten both of the sides. Last, new mounting holes has to be fabricated, only some original mounting holes could be used.

3) Would you mind providing some detail?

Of course... Let me know if you have any other questions.

thanks...

hope this helps

BTW, how does the factory TL body kit compare to the CL Versus Bodykit kit? This may be an alternative way to go.

I have the Versus kit and personally i like the TL kit better, much cleaner and classy...but i dont have $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ just sittin around for that kit to get custom fit..so i got the versus kit...if money is no thing and you know a good body shop i say get the TL kit...if not then the Versus kit is about the only other choice.

I have the TL kit conversion and I used CharlesNguyen post to show my bodyshop guys. They did a good job customizing the way I wanted mine done, and yes it will have to be repainted. LAbor and paint should cost you an additional $1200

I've seen italiacls's car, and it has to be one of the cleanest 01's around. he only has about 30k miles on it and when he installs my supercharger he will have one of the more complete CL's around. Dan, you really should take some pics to show the board. give me a call soon, i'm ready to take the charger off when your ready.

Should have bought the unpainted. just return it and tell them that you thought it fit your car. They will all laugh and point, but you'll save some loot.

Just post a thread on the Blackmarket. I think there are a couple people that have them already modified. I spoke to at least one kid that had a set already cut and painted. You maybe able to save some cash that can be better spent.
