Just bought my 2nd CLS
Hey guys my name is Vik. Not sure if you guys remember me, but I was on the boards here from '07 till about 6 months ago when I sold my first CLS. I bought a BMW 540i and love driving it everyday. I have to admit I missed my CLS and was on the lookout for one if I could get it for a decent price.
Well sure enough, about two weeks ago, I came across pits200's car for sale, and couldn't pass up buying it, so of course, as the title states, I bought it.
Also as many of you know, Bill went through a lot with the car and it has come a long way. As of now, it just shipped yesterday from Bill's home in Pittsburgh, PA to Paul's shop in Leesburg, VA.
It's sitting there with its Ody engine waiting on Paul to put in a '05 Accord transmission. Thanks to P. diddy for the inspiration with the transmission idea. While he has it at his shop, he's doing the TB service (TB, water pump, spark plugs etc) and throwing on a tranny cooler.
Paul will also be doing some work with the cams...
I recently picked up Comptech axle back mufflers (for free) and will be putting those on along with '03 headlights +tailights when I get the car here.
On Thursday, I'll be flying up with two of my buddies to go pick the car up, and then we'll drive it down to SC.
Big thanks to Bill for being a standup guy and helping me out every step of the way with the sale.
Anyways, just wanted to throw that out there. Back when I had my first CLS this site provided a lot of valuable information and I hope much hasn't changed in the past 6 months or so.
Thoughts? Concerns? Ideas?

Congrats on the pickup, I would have been parting the car had you not bought it, but it's nice to see it get another chance and the work it needs. Enjoy and keep us updated

Vik, a couple things I might not have completely told you.
1.) You mentioned spark plugs. I changed those with NGK Iridiums no longer than 2k miles ago when the engine was swapped.
2.) I also changed the oil with mobil 1 filter and oil 2k ago after the engine swap.
3.) 2k miles ago, I changed all four corners with slotted rotors and pads.. Ha, this is kind of embarrassing but I think I put the front rotors on the wrong side so you might want to check those out.
4.) I seafoamed the "new" engine hardcore before I put the new spark plugs in.
5.) I just had an alignment done at Sears the day I picked it up from getting the engine swap and everything is lined up nice and tight.
6.) The rear Tokico Illumina shocks are set to stiffness 5 on the 1-5 level. You need to take out the rear seat to adjust these, but I found 5 to be not ridiculously hard.
7.) You might want to look at the passenger side motor mount, I didnt check it out but with the torque from the tranny going KaPut, it may have done some damage and will be much easier to change during the swap.
8.) Effing enjoy it man, the car pulled really hard for the short time it worked after the engine swap. Be careful driving home after picking it up because seriously, driving 100mph in that car feels like nothing. And don't forget to bring a good dvd like the hangover to watch on the ride home on the hacked Navi Screen.
Good luck dude, I'll be checking up to see how things are going.
Ps, my buddy dropped my car off today after picking it up last nigth and he just said, "I hate you dude for making me drive this car for one day and then taking it away from me" lol
hah, I'll get you details as soon as they become available to me, trust me, I'm not one of those guys that do "mystery mods." I'll be sure to share when I find out exactly what he's doing.
Either way, theres a shop down here in Charleston, AV engineering, that will be doing the tuning.
Thanks! Even though it could be perceived as a "problem child" for Bill, I have full confidence he took the utmost care of it otherwise I would have hesitated buying from just about anyone else on the forums.
Lol, I can see why you guess I might have some animosity towards the CL-s but that car was true to me. I loved it and am glad Vik purchased it to give it another chance. Sometimes you just need to know when its time to move on.

I'll check out the rotors and make sure they're on right along with the other things you mentioned.
I can't wait to drive it down! I wonder how it will do against the bimmer...
Jacobs right, the car could use a good clay bar/wet sand/polish/wax.
After the tranny gets swapped the base of the car is great (Motor/Tranny/suspension)
You just need to to do some body work here and there.

Now when I get a tune, that's another story. Its funny but Im actually excited for you to get this done and see how you enjoy it.
Seriously, against the 335, from a highway roll of like 40-105 you might be surprised to hear me say this. BUT the CL-S might actually hang with the 335 in stock form. Being that it's awd it loses a little something from a roll and the CL-S has such good mid speed power that I was surprised driving the 335 around yesterday and not noticing an enormous difference from mid speed pulls.
