just bought '01 CL

I just bought an Emerald Green Pearl 2001 CL. i got it for 8k firm with only 35k miles. i'm just looking at your opinions on if that was great choice or not. i've been hearing about the tranny problems but i don't think that'll be a big deal since i only got it for 8k. its not salvaged. tan int. no navi. what do you guys think? shoot your good/bad opinions.

Welcome to AZ!!! I think you got a pretty good deal personally. I wish they made the Type S in green. Anyway, don't worry about the tranny, it's covered in your case for another 73k miles, so if it goes it goes and you get a brand spanking new one. Post picts in the photography section when you get a chance. There's quite a few members on here with CL-Ps that can show you the way.

Welcome to the forum !!

Before there was an info thread and FAQ forum, there was CHOD's Acura CL FAQ:

Welcome, I own a CL-P as well. There are plenty of things you can do to a CL-P, so don't feel bad for not getting a type S. At most you can just swap type S J32A2 in. Your deal is really good too, 35k miles, for 8k. In fact that is VERY GOOD.

Instead of swapping in the Type-S motor you can just buy type-S parts for your motor.

omg, that is a amazing deal! i got my 01 CL-S for 8.8k and it was salvage. yours isnt. mine had 74k too and yours is only 35k? im guessing that is WELL below KBB. prob several thousands. why was it so cheap?

with low mileage and a non-salvage title, dont worry about the tranny too much, if it starts to act up, then juts get it replaced.

Don't forget, there is a time deadline to the Tranny warranty also.

I think it is only 93 months, so I don't think he has to worry about the mileage warranty, but he only has about 1.5 years left in terms of time especially if its a 2001

i acutually spoke with the service manager at the sterling acura of austin and he said that the time line is not a big deal they are a lot more conserned with the mileage than time but of course this is before the fact and if i brough my car to him in 3 years with only 90k on it he would probably say that the timetable is over and deny the replacement
