just back from driving the 6MT!!!!!!

initial impressions...the car seems quiter, more refined...to dispel any rumours of a RSX type subwoofer in the spare, sorry...I wasnt able to dirve it alone, and the test was fairly brief....i did launch it hard off the line ,and the tires will spin although they seem to hook up quicker and its alittle more hop than spin...you can get a big bark into second, and a little chirp into third.....i made a big sweeper onto a main road 3/4 throttle and shifted into second ,the tires did bark, and under steer i didnt get a good oppertunity to get the feel for the LSD and notice a big difference...the shifter was smoth and it seemed the gears just feel into place....aside from 5 minutes with my friends S2000 i havent driven a stick in years....you still need new rubber, springs and sways, but like the sales man said(a cool guy BTW) this is the way it should have come in the begining...my only concern is....ARE most of acuras prospective 6 speed owners tied up in an automatic and that they abandon the idea because of slow sales ,when its really a matter of the people who want it are just out of reach....i myself am close i can get out of my car for payoff but it'd be tight to come up with enough down to afford the new payment....

one last the silver/aluminum trim is much nicer in person...still it should of been real aluminum its glossy with texture of bruched aluminum in it...

Very cool! Thanks for the first review!

....ARE most of acuras prospective 6 speed owners tied up in an automatic

I'm writting my letter to acura customer service in the morning. Telling them that'd better not get rid of the manual or I won't be purchasing an acura next time around.

Exactly the problem, I think, plus now there's just too much competition in this price range (compared to 2 yrs ago when the Type S debuted) - G35, the new Z, RX8, WRX, new A4, 330i - all available (or soon to be) with MT. At dealership here as of a couple of weeks ago, there wasn't a single person signed up for '03 6spd CL, other than the salesperson who sold me my car 2 yrs ago. If Acura had spent the time/money to develop 6spd MT and LSD up front with the '01 CL-S, the returns (reputation, sales, etc.) would have been far, far greater than they're going to be now. The lack of forward vision by some carmakers can be mindboggling... My only hope is that in a year or so, excess supply of 6spd MT Type S may allow for a decent deal.

But if the manuals don’t sell in 2003, there might not be a 2004 STICK SHIFT.

Then again, if you guys don’t buy now, my car might become a collector’s item and much coveted like the 95 Legend 6-Speed.
