JDM Conversion Q

I know the 3.2TL is the Honda "Inspire", does the 3.2CL have a JDM counterpart or is it also sold as an "Inspire" over in JDM land.

Also would the Inspire conversion be direct bolt-on for the CL like it is for the TL?

CL is pure USDM, no Japanese counterpart.

There is no Japanese counterpart to the CL so you cannot have JDM Badges.

End of story...

I never understood all that jdm crap. It's just a dumb to me. Oh I want my car to look like a car only available in japan? Oh I want a type r on a type s or type Y, or X? WTF? Right hand drive on US roads? Again WTF? That's not fun. Drive a right hand conversion postal truck.( I have) You'll see just what a PITA it is.
Anyone that knows anything will know the difference & you'll look like a tool.

When I was doing the Integra thing, 'JDM' style seemed to start off w/ switching parts in from japanese market cars, but then $$$ japanese tuner parts became de riguer. So stock Honda parts or tuner parts from companies like Mugen, Spoon, JUN etc. set the trend and there was a perceived and actual 'quality' aspect to the mods. Except for stuff like the front end conversions there was also a 'performance emphasis' on the street like the use of light carbon fiber pieces while eschewing big wings and body kits. Also, the use of smaller 15 or 16 inch rollers were chosen over 17s or 18s. Seems the JDM style trended toward more conservative, less ricey look. In the end the JDM v USDM is probably just 'the grass is always greener...' thing, but at least the parts tended to be be of good quality for us westerners. I wonder if the japanese guys get pumped when they get their orange corners, Wings West kits, and Crower cams?

The only relation to the accord is that the CL is built on the 98-02 accord chassis if i'm not mistaken.

other than that, as others have said, the CL is a US vehicle only.

FYI, rear FOG lights are intended for driving in fog so that people behind you see your car and don't ram you while driving through the fog. They are red, not white.

My Avant has them. I have yet to ever use them, but if you live in an area that experiences a lot of fog, they are a great safety feature.

That's the rear fog. When you see that lit and it's not foggy, people don't even realize they have it turned on since most people aren't even accustom to using that feature.

Some cars have it only on one side in the rear, other's have it on both sides.

Someone just did it on the 2nd Gen TL side...

I think it was JDM Inspired...not sure though.

Look it up over there to get an idea of what it looks like.

Got to cut up your bumper though...not sure you want to do that.

thank you for clarifying for myself that the Cl has no JDM counterpart and is indeed a "Made in USA" car.

You may not understand it, but there are significant differences in JDM parts/cars to those produced in the lower 48 states. For example, I'd personally love to own an NSX-R. It looks better, the parts on the car are far superior to those available and produced in the US. So really, if I had the money to purchase a far superior vehicle, the question becomes, why not?

RHD on US Roads? Not that big of a deal. PITA? Not really. There are plenty of RHD R33/R34 skylines here in Southern California. I guess they're all tools?

Anyone that knows anything will know what it took to import a car like that over here, and so long as the owner enjoys it, who cares what everyone else thinks.

the only time RHD becomes a PITA is when you've never driven on an imperial road, i.e., Japan, U.K., etc. I've driven in Japan and it's nothing compared to LHD driving in the states.

At most drive-thru's. But Checkers in philly give you the option to pull up to a right hand menu and windows. Obviously not for that reason.....

Importing a car is different. If you have the $ then fine. It's the other 99.9% that
buy parts to make a US car "look" like an imported car is what I'm talking about.

Maybe it was the postal truck I drove but RHD on FL roads in traffic was a PITA.

I would love a RHD drive car. Not for the RHD (it does add to the "cool" factor) but for the accessories the cars get in japan as opposed to america.

Before the CL I was looking to import a Prelude to go along w/ my 4th gen. The RHD preludes in Japan came in a Type S, with a nice lip kit, digital climate control, Navigation, different interior, steering wheel, better engine...etc.

I think there is something to be said for JDM OEM parts, but I don't condone civic drivers going out and buying headlights that look exactly the same as their stock ones...just because they came from japan.

No. There is no JDM equivalent to the CL...

Please don't put TL "inspire" badges on your CL...
