Hey guys,

I have just imported 2 j37a1 engines to New Zealand to put in jet boats (They weren't available here, only j35), but neither of them came with intake manifolds. I got them for under $300 each so not too bad I thought. Can you confirm that the intake manifold and the throttle body is the same as what is on the j35a8? Our local wrecker has some cars with these engines, and I can get the IM for around $50. Id like to get a larger one but it seems these are hard to come by at wreckers over there? And I don't fancy paying more for the intake than I did for the whole engine haha.

If I can fit a J37 IM on my J32A2, or my new J35A3, and people are fitting J37 IM on their 3g TLs, I don't see why a J35 IM wouldn't fit on a J37.

 

Are the throttle bodies the same size? Is the question I'm asking

 

I don't believe so, no. The J37 TB, besides the MDX manifold, uses an 80mm TB, while the J35A8 uses a 67mm.

​​​​​​**Edit: Just realized the J37A1 is the MDX IM, which I believe is also 67mm. Either way, unless you're chasing after power, throttle body size doesn't matter. Either will work.

 

Not chasing power at this stage... I imported the engines due to the increased horsepower and lower weight than the j35. Just didn't want to put a smaller TB on it if it didn't come with it etc.
But since I can get a Throttle and Intake from a local wrecker here for under $100, I will do that until a can find a larger one for sale to import.
