Ive noticed that celica GTS's are running faster than us lately

Since i used to have a GTS celica i usually check out their forums every now and then. Well lately there are several people running very low 14's with just basic bolt-ons...........seems like the extra mods for that car are helping out, only a few mods were available when i used to own one. I dont really see any of our times droping, especially in the summer. Feelin like i should of stuck with the 4banger, though the interior doesn't compare to our cars, thats about where the line ends.

Didn't think the GT-S was that fast. What kind of bolt ons they got? Also must be some skilled drivers.

yeah the rsx-s is quick too for a 4cyl. they have hondata that really helps them out..........the bolt ons that i can think of are I/E ecu for the 02/03 GTS to raise the rev limiter, LSD, and maybe a few other things.

ya, also, those toda cams help A LOT...also not many have the lsds yet for the rsx, so once people start getting those, the rsx's should be even quicker

Maybe we all have different opinions as to what a "basic bolt-on" is...

I can "basically bolt-on" a S/C...

I thought the GTS only had like 180hp in stock form. I was looking at those and the RSX before I bought the CLS. I decided the GTS and RSX were for the young ricers.

Yep, that's 200lbs lighter then the RSX.

Weight is also the reason I'm interested in getting a early 1972-1973 911. They weigh about 2300 lbs stock

stock they are 180hp, but with intake and exhaust i put 169fwhp and thats pretty good for a car that weighs 2500lbs.
Power to weight ratio for celica with I/E would be 14.7 with 169fwhp and a CL-S would be 15 with I/E/H and 220fwhp.........i know you cant solely rely on this speed wise, but the car handles like its on rails too.

About the bolt on question, i listed the mods earlier.......ill find more slips if you guys dont believe

the only major prob is the interior though, it was too cheap, reminded me of a new altima, cheap plastic.

Not bad, but these guys are doing lightening and bolt-ons. None of the links you gave tell us what mods they exactly have.

here ill make it easier for you........ click here www.newcelica.org and click on the "1/4 mile times" on the top right page, if you click on "more info" it tells you the mods and a link to the slip, most are just with I/E some with DR's and some with back seats out, maybe 50lbs.

Not bad. 14.2 seems like the fastest run N/A run. Everyone one else faster was on the spray. And a lot of the folks tossed a bunch of weight.

Interesting some of the folks could only hit mid to low 14's with Spray. Wierd. Wonder if some of the guys are leaving some of their mods off.

Not any mods they could leave off, the issue with spraying is because the GTS is hard to launch and if they spray off the line they will be in trouble, over a year and a half ago there was a guy who had a GTS with a 50shot DR's I/E and lightened and he ran a 13.12, its not on that list but it was going around for a while on there.

could of been an auto, they run low 16's if they are lucky.

I would erase the pic of my stock height and 19's but i need more pics total first, i no longer have a digital camera and the pics with the car lowered are real blurry

Nope that was an aftermarket deal. Remember the prototype racing headers for the CL that never happened. Same guys.
