damn...this confirms what i found. just took a trip to vermont with my buddy...he took his FX35 and speedometer showed that he was going slower than mine when we were nose to nose. i had a feeeling.....i checked b/c i just took off my after market wheels with 225/45/18's and checked against his and it was right on....now that i put my stock tires back on my speedometer is reading too fast. go figures....well we could all put oversized wheels on and get our miles back

I wouldnt use mapquest or any other map service for trying to get an accurate count. Just because these maps and such dont take in account of twisty roads along with up hills and down hills which would add on more distance. BUT, seeing that it was a 2 car drive, this seems a little discouraging. Then again, who says the G is right? The test must be done with multiple cars from multiple companies on a long straight stretch of road thats properly measured so that we can see, if any, differences between the autos.

This shit pisses me off. Fucking Honda. I don't think I'll ever buy another one at this point and I'm glad mine's gone.

Very interesting. I have 121000+ on my CL-S. I drive 100 miles a day to and from work. I will have to check this out when I get my Deer Killer back from the body shop.

Gotta love the CL-S, its the ultimate highway driver. Quiet engine at high speeds, smooth ride, confident in the twisties, and good acceleration.

Don't you understand, its the principal of the matter. To us, 2-4K miles aren't much, but to Honda/Acura, that is a ton of money. Read the thread about the 109K miles extension, those extra 9K miles are costing them A TON of money. (Approx 180 million) Now if the tranny defect only effects 5% of vehicles and that extra 9K cost them that much. Imagine how much money they saved by cutting off 2K miles from a 50,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty which effects ALL CARS unlike the tranny problem. It has to be in the hundreds of millions that it would save the company if the odometers were overestimating by 4%.

Let's say if my warranty ended at 60k miles but I'm at say 62K miles and my headlight balast goes out. I'm screwed. Well, in all reality my car only has 59k-60k miles on it and it should have been covered. Now, I just dropped $700+/- on the car that should have been covered. This honestly depresses me, I always thought Acura was one of the "Best Bang for Your Buck" cars in the market.
But after dealing with their customer service regarding the tranny and my ODB Sensor (airbag thingy) on my seat. I couldn't believe the lady had the kahoonas to tell me that its my fault that the seat sensor went out because I put my cell phone on my passenger seat and that I would have to spend $500 to have it fixed.
I complained for months and nothing, they kept telling me that it wouldnt be covered because I was out of warranty coverage. Of course I was right and they finally issued an extended warranty. What would have happened if I got in an accident in the time it took Acura to finally fess up to the defect.
I doubt I will ever buy another Acura again.

I dont own a CL (TSX owner) but it would be interesting to compare this to all other Acuras. This is something that can concern everyone.
But i do wonder what "stock" sized tires everyone is running. It sounds like this occurs with everyone running stock rims and stock sized tires.
But even same sized tires can have a rotational differences up to 30 revs. Not sure what that calculates into, but there are quite a few things that can factor mileage differences.
Tire condition, wind drag, tire scrub, tire brand, rubber type, alignment....etc.
Im not denying your findings it does intrigue me and concern me. And I'm in no way saying I'm the know all, jsut thought I'd throw some suggestions out there.

Do you honestly think they are the only ones with discrepancies??? My TL is the most accurate of my friends cars. Mine is spot on. (via gps and mile markers) My friend with a lexus ls400 is off by almost 4% I fail to see what the big deal is and 2nd how accurate your test actually was. Get a gps and test out your speedo for accuracy and use the trip meter to see if its accurate.

If its such a common problem, shouldn't dealerships be adding a 4% grace period into their warranty.
For example if you have a 50,000 mile warranty, shouldnt they cover your car up to 52,000 miles.

I once again made the same trip I did 2 weeks ago from Pittsburgh, pa to Baltimore, MD and my gf followed me in her G35.
My car said 103.1 from the same gas station we filled up at before.
Her G said 98.3 from the same gas station that we always fill up at.
I wish someone else would test this with another car and the CL so we can eliminate my gfs car as a variable and if her car is accurate.

Why not test your car against mile markers over a 20 or so mile period or get a GPS unit and test??

Honestly, The first thing I noticed was that when I was doing 90 MPH it didnt seem like 90 MPH. This would make sence. The car always seems to say it is going faster that what I expect it to read. This is an interesting find
