It's Official - Cobra Ownage!
First of all my IMRC dosnt work. So I make it stay open just to see what kinda power I lost... ALOT.... This wasnt planned.. Ill still post video of COBRA OWNAGE! NOTE: And this was a dif. cobra dif. driver. so i know it cant be my friends driving!
Now for the good stuff.......
Pull up to a light then pulls a side the stang so right then. VSA off check, Gate Shift in 1st gear check, cocky ass teen cobra owner about to get owned check. He's just laughin like he is gonna walk away from me.
Light turns green..... WOT and were off.... Neck and Neck 0-90 with my bumper i would say a foot in front of his... We shut her down...
I drive slow next to him and I ask "Hey man what year cobra is that?" He wasnt to happy flipped me the bird and gave her the gas... I was laughin my ass off.
It looked like my friends so I would say 96' to 98'
I will prove this once and for all in few days with my buddies stang in video.

why do some of you guys hate on him soo much? its his post, theres no point in reading it knowing what it's about and start talking sh**, i mean this is the CL community should'nt we be backing and sticking up for each other than just automaticly another member, i mean if he has vid's to back up, then preach on.... just my

And the guys at svtperformance would laugh because the original poster doesnt make much sense, and how can a car with 60whp LESS, MORE weight, and WORSE gearing win? The J32 doesnt have some mystical powerband, even when it has a ebay intake.

I doubt this was a Cobra... my buddy got a 03 GT 5MT, i got a 03 CL-S 6MT and we are head to head he cant run away from me.. the 6MT 3 rd gear is just a killer . But a cobra would rape a stock 6mt cl and onewith all bolts ons..

hmmmm....
last nite i raced a 5.0 mustang on the freeway. i didnt wanna race but the guy was toying with me. we were already doing 95-100 when we started racing. i dont know what the top speed on those things are but as soon as i hit the 120 mark he was no longer at my side... he fell back.... waaaaaaaaay back as i approached 140. Dont worry guys... there was no one on the freeway and it was a straight away.

If the 5.0 mustang doesnt have gears it really falls off once into 5th gear. Hell, even with gears 5th is a pretty tall gear so acceleration past 120mph is not that strong. This is assuming no forced induction and only mild bolt-ons.

I love imports as well and I have respect for all fast cars.
I didn't take any videos of it, but the CL-S that I walked away from last night didn't seem like a happy camper.

He said it was a 96-98 Cobra, those made roughly 245whp stock. With a shitty driver spinning tires in the Cobra, how could it not be neck to neck? Without knowing EVERY factor, it's hard to bash on anyone. Yes, in the best case scenario the Cobra would win.

Another run I saw was my friend's almost stock (just had an air filter and exhaust) Evo ran against our other friend with a supercharged stang with other stuff in it putting down 374whp (or a lil more, I forget) lost 8/9 runs against the Evo. That showed me how insanely light the rear ends of stangs really are (i've read this was the one of the big causes for loss of traction). He had sticky 315's in the rear and still couldnt get traction for his life. I can't imagine how 315's cannot grip the road with only 374whp.
Of course I cant base the outcome of every race with only those 2 experiences, but it did show me, that, well, shit happens.
I understand 50whp is a lot of difference between the two cars, but I honestly think the driver in the stang did something wrong which caused him to play catch up. And I get the feeling it had something to do with his traction.

BUT, it does interest me that the actuator wasnt working on the CLS and he did manage to keep up with the Cobra. That threw me off. But he did state that he "kept it open", so maybe, by doing so the car only lost low end but not his high end. I'm interested in seeing how that affects the whp on a dyno by keeping it open at all times.
Anyone have any dyno proof on lost of whp throughout the powerband by keeping the actuator open at all times? I'd like to see how it affects it.

50 whp? So if a stock Cobra has 245whp, Chris's car with header is only putting down 195whp? I put down 200whp stock...even with obx/ss auto/xs power header he should still gain around 20whp I would think (FWIW comptech headers/mufflers put down 32whp gain on the AT). So that makes it more like 25whp instead of 50, and if that gen cobra ran 13.8/13.9 stock, that is under a second compared to a stock AT Cls. That is a believe-able drivers race, and he did say they were head to head up to 90. I though also am not aware of the benefits/consequences of keeping IMRC open all the time.

MODS: MAYBE WE COULD EXTEND EDIT TIME OUT TO SAY 10 MINUTES??? THIS GETS VERY ANNOYING. I tried to just type something "rgeg" in there hoping to get five more minutes to edit, no such luck.

Camaro SS merging on the highway from like 30-90 and took him by several car lengths! This was because he downshifted into first or second and while I was running up through 2nd gear, he was spinning tires. Once he got traction he was catching up quickly, so I know his car was faster. He must have felt like a knucklehead though, lol...Find someone who can launch a Cobra well of the line.

I have not shot the video yet... But hows this. Ill film our cars side by side with the hoods up, show every angle of the engine's. Show the bodys of the cars... Then you can see it's a Cobra....
Then... do a race from a dig, then a roll... Then the CL-S will be victorious... Blah Blah... ..Ect. The video will show the results. Ill try to see if he'll bite tomorrow then post it ASAP! IMRC stuck open right now just FYI.
