Exclamation It's dark blue...it's purple...it's....OUT!

So my driver's side headlamp is out.

I already did a search so don't throw any tomatoes...

The lamp warms up, then goes purple, then just completely out....but all through the process it's darker than the passenger's side.

Does this mean that I just need to replace the bulb? I had a stealership tell me that I may have to replace my inverter which sounds like BS...

So, now I'm looking at replacing before I get a ticket for driving around with only one headlight. I don't think the lines of "Oh c'mon officer, one of my HIDs is brighter than a lot of pairs of halogens out there!". I'm digging around for the Phillips 6000k or 4500k (I have already seen all the rants and fights over them so no need to get into that one)...but...my issue is that I have spent a good hour looking at all the forums and their pages and can't seem to find where to buy Phillips/Osram at a decent price. The stealership wants $135 for each bulb...I know I can do better than that somewhere.

HELP!!! And of course, thanks!

Also, what's the difference between D2R and D2S? Anything?

I would suggest looking on ebay they go for around 120-140 for both bulbs. Also D2R is for OEM projector headlamps and D2S is for OEM non projector headlamps (what we have). Hope that helped, plus its not your ballast that has gone bad its just the bulb dont worry.

And this is why I'm glad we have the zine...

We have S? The part number states the part is D2R for our cars...

I have called two stealerships here in Houston and both didn't have a clue as to what D2S/R means...all they are able to tell me is that the bulb is D2R.

I believe its the other way around. D2R is for our application and D2S is for projector headlights.

You are in California...so I'll let it slide.

Just for kicks, I went to the car and THANKFULLY the lamps are labeled on the cover and do state d2r...woohoo! BUT, now the lamp just doesn't turn on at all...

Now, if I could only get them sooner or find a place in Houston. I think I might splurge and go with 6000k...who knows right now. I don't mind waiting a couple of days for the lamps, but don't think HPD/Webster/Friendswood/Seabrook/El Lago/Taylor Lake cops won't wait to write a ticket...

Found some 85126+ for $109 shipped...

Well, did some digging and found some 85126+ (~4800K) for $109 including shipping.

I was contemplating using the 6000K but apparently there are a lot of downfalls to them while driving in heavy rain. And living in Houston where it rains whenever it wants to and not having many decent roads, decided to go with the newer Philips bulbs. They have (to me) the best of both worlds...a little blue hue to go along with the good luminesence for the open roads.

I should get them today and will install them and try to post some pictures on here...but be patient...it'll be my first attempt at putting pics up here.
