I love the fact you are in Florida! Sounds like I might have to come check it out. Even more enticing, is a CHOICE between the s/c and the 3.5L--err, or some concoction of both!!!

Dean, can you give us an update on how the 3.5 w/a 10.2/1 compression ratio perfoms if N/A? Just curious, want to build my car in stages and get the block first, then the S/C. Thanks Dean.

Just so none of you lives near Austin.. As an Altima owner, I'd hate to run into sneak up on one of these :-).
BTW, what does it cost to do this upgrade? I thought I saw $2500, but that seems kinda low...
P.S. You Acura/Honda guys are hardcore...

PRICING!!!!!
Thanks again everyone!!!
OK guys...here is what we have for pricing information...there will actually be 3 different ways to do this....
1. Stock block and gasket set to have this completed $1750 shipped to you. This is a high compression 10.8:1 (with stock CL-S/TL-S heads) non power-adder short block. (Although nitrous doesn't mind high compression, it's not a turbo or s/c application.)
2. Stock block with shot peened & magnafluxed stock rods, chamfered oil passages and balanced rotating assembly--with gasket set $3030 shipped to you. These are also 10.8:1 with the stock CL-S/TL-S heads.
3. Stock block like #2 + custom forged pistons 10.14:1, file to fit rings, shot peened/magnafluxed rods, balanced & assembled, $4300 shipped to you. (this is what is currently in the car we just finished) We can also have an all motor version of this done--just let us know what compression ratio you want to have and we can build it.
If you would like to send your car to us and have us complete the install, the labor is $1950.
Time frame for this will be dependent on how far you would like to take it. The custom pistons are about a 4-6 week lead time to receive--the machine shop is about a weeks worth of work and shipping time to you. FYI: There are currently 3 blocks available in the U.S., so availability may be an issue in the near future as they may go on national back order---I just found this out a few minutes ago.
The car runs great in its current NA configuration and this will be insane once boost is applied to it in the near future.
Transmissions are available in 2 Stages:
Stage 1 is with a funace brazed stock housing converter providing a 200RPM increase in stall speed. $2500+freight
Stage 2 is an anti-ballooning aftermarket converter--not a stock housing....provides a higher stall and suitable for power adder vehicles. $3500+freight
There are not as many internal parts available currently for the CLS/TLS 5Speed Autos as there are for the Accord/Preludes. The transmissions above are with Kevlar clutches and hardened steel shafts. We are awaiting the release of Carbon/Graphite clutches for these applications. Running production changes will occur as these parts become available.
Thanks again everyone and I just want to say that we are very pleased to be able to bring this to market for everyone.

Let's see,... mid February in Michigan, drive to,.....(where are you located in relation to major cities?), somewhere warm and sunny. Drop the TL-S off, and grab the rental Harley, (or Taurus) and head for the beach for,...(how long will it take you to install this?), a while. Then have a fully broken in super sleaper by the time I get home.

kHmER Co,
These are for brand new short blocks sent to you. It is a totally new bottom end. You take the stock heads off of your motor and install them on the one we send you.
Again...they do NOT include another set of heads...just the bottom end.
Thanks
Dean

No gear options at this time....Sorry. And to be perfectly honest, I forgot to ask about the LSD, but I will be talking to him again in the morning.

nice dean
we need new gear ratios, since we dont got that much torque it takes a long time to get through the gears
1st gear should be like 0-38, then 2nd 39-70, 3rd 71-100ish, 4th 100ish-125, then 5th after that
that gearing would be sweet, i hate it how the 5at just hits a wall when u hit 4th, the headers didnt help a bit on the 3-4 shift, u prolly need a blower, turbo or spray

Dean,
You said install was $1950 for the motor, how much extra would it run if you had the tranny installed too?
Also in terms of daily driveability, how bad would it be to put the Stage 2 high stall torque converter? I know some aftermarket high stall tc's increase the stall enough that it really only makes the car suitable for drag racing... Stage 1 with a 200rpm increase seems pretty reasonable though.

I spoke with the transmission guy and the stock trans has a viscus LSD already in it He is doing another one this week and is looking into the possibility of other final drives, but currently no other gear sets are around.
LiQiCE,
The $1950 would include the price of changing the transmission since it has to come out anyway when the block is changed. The Stage2 transmission has a stall that is about 2800-3000 in it--it is still good for everyday driving....as well as hold more power.
Thanks
Dean

bullaculle nope...they mean there's one already there.
typeR I think you're wrong dude, sorry. Austin was talking to me on the "other" site and this transmission rebuild shop knows what they're talking about. There is a viscous LSD already inside the transmission, albeit not an amazing one. From the pictures he showed me they stripped the transmission open, it's not like they just guessed at it. They spent 9 months doing all this, I'm pretty sure they know. Go ask him about it.

Dean,
Excelent work on the engine mods. Althought I have to ask a few things. What is being done about the heads? The valves need to be replaced with SS. I find that is the weakest link so far. I wouldn't think that htere would be any need to change the springs because we are not goign to see 9K RPMs anytime soon.
As for the block are u also changing out the wrist pins and the piston rings. Sure the pins and rings are stong enough as is, but with the (what I would call) Stage 3 engine mod (10.14CR), The upgraded pins and rings would go together hand in hand.
Austin did state that he had a 5 angle valve job, 3 on the valves and 2 on the exhaust and intake side. ALthough I didn't read anyhting about SS valves. Maybe I'm not seeing it. Couldn't emagine Austin not having the stocks replaced for SS ones, he's far too smart for that.
u thinknk u could look into cams for our cars; i.e. N/A, FI, or nitrous cams? I'm seeing an 8-10 on the N/A side and 15-20 on the FI and N2O side.
I say keep the ball rolling. It would be nice to send the CLS over there and have the whole engine redone; i.e. cams, rods, pistons, crank, and the head. That is after I blow it up off of N2O .
About the tranny is there a warranty? Hopefully a 1 year parts and labor.
Is the tranny ECU redone? Stronger shifts?
I don't have much experence with an auto with a stall speed of 2.8K-3K. ALthough I would think that it wouldn't feel nice for normal driving, kinda jerky from light to light.
With the Stage 1 tranny. Where the stall speed is raised 200 RPMs. Just curious as why only 200 RPMs were used in raising the stall speed. I would emagine 500 to the least.
Well tnx for the future fixes for us slush box users. It will save us alot of $$$ in the log run, compared to trading in our cars. Lets just hope that this is the cure for our tranny woes. If it is then I would recomend on the next R&D that u do is for stronger axels and spindels .

What is the name of your Company? And the mods? How about a contest and a free upgrade for the member who comes up with the best name, and for the member who comes up with the idea for a contest?
