Interior light

I want to install a small dim light that would shine on driver side and passenger side feet at night. A dim greenish light to match my dash. A have seen a few new cars come with this feature. Any thought? Anyone completed this? Been searching the threads..

yeah a couple of people have done it, just use a couple of LEDs and tap into the illumination wire at the radio and run it to each side and mount as neccesary

I think he's referring to the "ambient lighting" that people have installed in their Homelink. I personally would like to do this, but not sure how. I know you drill two holes in the Homelink, but I don't know where to get the right bulbs, how to mount them, or where to wire them to.

is't the homelink up in the headliner, i think that might be too good shining right into your eye at night ,
get a couple of LEDs (try radioshack) drill a couple of holes in the lower dash which is where the lghts in the picture above proably are , and as said before tap into the radio's illumination

That's what some people on the TL side have done, and it shines on the shift gate, not the eyes.

OK......, but you then would need to run some wire up the a-piller for it cause the homelink always has power so it would always be on

I'm not saying it's the right way, I'm just pointing out the way that other member's have done it.

I would use power from the mirror, use an led and put a small swith up there, Because its easy to pop the a pillar off and tuck under the head liner, but not easy hide it going from the headliner to the mirror

I did this mod in my 95 maxima 5 speed because my dads vette had it and looks good as long as its a dim light like red or blue

where is the guy who started this thread ??? LOL

If you resses it a little in to the mirror it will be focused just on the shifter

I think you can get dimmer bulbs like the ones in the thread I posted. I thought about getting something dim so I could find my Homelink buttons at night.

i don't have a garage door, so kinda point less for me, if all it was, was a light to just locate the buttons at night (like on the power window switches) and not illuminate the interior like in the picture you posted, then i would say go for it,

btw: those are LEDs and to get them dimmer you just need some resisters
