Interesting idea
My buddies and I were talking the other day about a friends race car and all the switches he has to switch to turn the thing on and it got me thinking, it would be cool to wire up a start switch for my car.
I want it so that I turn my key to the ON position - but don't turn it over to the start area - and the flip up the switch until the engine turns over and then drop the switch which returns to a neutral position.
Is this possible at all, and if so how could we do this the simplest way? This is just for fun and to see if it could work. SO if anyone has experience in this feel free to chime in!
Thanks!

These guys make it look pretty easy!! I would never want a button like that I want more of a toggle switch that comes back to a neutral position.

Of course it could work. Get a toggle like that and connect it to the correct wire, but the question is, Why add 1 more step to starting the car?

This is the wrong direction for theft safety. If thats a main concern, I'd suggest a good alarm system and if you are very paranoid a couple of hidden kill switches that are hidden subtly so its not noticeable when you flip them, like a wheel well or underhood switch.
And OP, yes it is easily do-able, toggle switches go for about 10-15 dollars at parts stores and just wire it into the the start circuit.

This has been done on the 1G CL side a few times, it's more for cool factor than it is for theft safety. If you're looking for theft protection, look into a fuel line cutoff switch
