Intercooler Availability

In preparation of the upcoming dyno and subsequent and existing requests, I went ahead and did a BOM for the IC and determined the appropriate price for it. Below is the primary list for the intercooler and the associated parts. I was a bit surprised at the cost considering that it had been creeping up. Keeping in mind that this is a whole new upper manifold the price is very reasonable IMO.

Code:
Qty	Description
1	Intercooler Core
1	Machine Work
1	Pipe
1	Coupling
1	Reservoir
1	Heat Exchanger
1	Pump
15	Hose
8	Small Hose Clamps
2	Larger Hose Clamps
1	Gasket
14	8mm x 16mm Bolts
14	8mm x 45mm Bolts
1	1/4 NPT x 3/8 Hose, Straight
1	1/4 NPT x 3/8 Hose, Right
3	1/8 NPT x 3/16 Hose, Straight
2	3/4 NPT x 5/8 Hose, Straight
4	3/4 NPT x 5/8 Hose, Right
2	5/8 Hose Adapter
1	30 Amp Relay
1	Fuse Holder
10	Power Wire
15	Control Wire
For the complete kit as shown above the price would be: $1550.00

I also decided to provide the other options which will most likely be used in conjunction with the intercooler. They can be added on as required:

$575.00 Greddy e-Manage Main Unit, Support Tool, Ignition Harness, Injector Harness, CL/TL (5AT and 6-Speed) PnP Harness and Pre-programmed for the Intercooler Application

$125.00 8 PSI Supercharger Pulley (Requires the 3.275 Inch Alternator/Supercharger Drive Pulley)

$300.00 Polished Manifold/Intercooler and Piping Services

I haven't determined how to handle this when it comes to people purchasing. I'll probably just set up a website and allow for Paypal as some would prefer using credit cards.

As previously mentioned, dyno results will be provided soon. I expect that with the whole kit a 6-Speed should reliably make in the 370 - 380 WHP range with the 5AT making about 340 - 350 WHP.

How about us in cali, will we be able to run the hbp with 91 octane? I'm in for sure if that's the case .

Yes, we'll have to back off on timing a little bit more though. That would be in the e-Manage.

That would turn my auto tranny to jello.

Thanks Ramanan,

It certainly has taken long enough. We may need to try something. I would love to see what type of numbers the turbo could make with this manifold and ice in the reservoir.

Also, this will be available for the AV6 as I have already done the drawings for the AV6 base plate. As you can see it was not as easy since the runners are not round like with the Type-S.

scalbert, as you're aware, I bought Modaddict's e-manage unit. He listed everything above except the ignition and injector harnesses and the pre-programming for the intercooler app.

On the off-chance that his does not come with those above, will you provide...

a) these harnesses...I really don't want to be splicing into anything if I don't need to.

b) pre-programming...it could possibly save me quite a bit of $$$ when it comes to dyno-tuning.

Thanks.

Although I beleive your unit will come with these from Brad, yes, I can take care of whatever the needs may be.

Now for the tests though. If the new pulley comes in this week I will hopefully be able to make it to the dyno next Saturday and see what the actual results are.

What does a "regular" supercharged CL-S put down?? I thought it was around 260 whp? Maybe 270?? I guess the pulley and intercooler make a huge difference.

I'm very impressed with your knowledge and ability to come up with all these new developments. Thanks for being such a pioneer for new modifications to our cars.

5AT, with Headers, Icebox and CT exhaust = 275

6MT, with Headers, Icebox and CT exhaust = 295 - 305

Is Dean and Velocity Resources still making the bullet-proof tranny for our cars?

WOW! very impressive.
Scalbert I notice you don't list all of your mods. What all do you have performance wise, if you don't mind me asking?
If you wanted to coninue to gain power what would be the next most logical mods? Changing internals like cams?

I'm just trying to put together the chain of already produced power mods (minus the clutch & flywheel for the 5AT):
I/h/e/p/bp/flywheel/clutch/throttle body/fan & thermostat/emanage/FI/hbp/manifold -IC/?
or
I/h/e/p/bp/flywheel/clutch/throttle body/fan & thermostat/unichip/?

what do you think the #'s to the wheels would be? also will this effect the entire band? thanks.

Dean may still have something in the works. I haven't heard about it lately though but it is worth dropping him a note.

With the lower compression and more boost it is conceivable that a CL-P could make in the 320 WHP range.

Comptech Headers
Comptech Supercharger
Comptech High Boost Alternator/Supercharger Pulley
King Motorsports Ported Throttle Body
Mugen T-Stat
Mugen Fan Switch
Greddy e-Manage
Custom Manifold/Intercooler

As for more power than what I expect to achieve; I haven't really looked into it yet and may not. This is currently enough for this platform IMO and more is just an exercise in futility.

The later could get you up 275+ WHP. The former can get you about 100 WHP more but it would cost significantly more.

I would estimate that a drop os 10 - 15 WHP could be realized wiht the reduced timing. And yes, the power increases are most certainly across the entire band; from idle to redline.

so in order to "incorporate" this new intercooler into our cars, we'd need the s/c to begin with, rite?

There is no point to the intercooler without forced induction of some sort.

Just a little. I have added a little fuel up top and have removed all retard. So far there is no knock and it is running good. I got my WBO2 back and will be installing in the next couple of days. At which point I will tune further.

But I did find the weak point in a Liquid/Air IC application. I already knew this from my Typhoon but found it again. I was stopped in traffic in 85 F temps with full sun. Within 30 minutes the power was lower as the water had heated quite a bit. That is probably the biggest limitation of liquid/air systems. But at the track ice can be added for the greatest efficiency.

Would a fan (fans) on the exchanger help enough? It was part of the kit that came with the barrel type IC I started working with.

I have thought of this using a temperature activated switch. I'll keep tabs on the temps too to check on the absolute need.
