Intake manifold butterflies?

Its important to note if I did not already that if you were going to leave the IMRC open or remove the plates and are supercharged you need to have the car properly tuned to operate that way. The tune must compensate for what the factory ECM maps will be trying to do and power delivery will then be very linear.

With out some form of tuning ability (piggy-back computer) I would either leave the IMRC disconnected if you are at 6psi of boost or leave it connected if you are at 5psi or less.

jproy, im going all motor this time. I sold my turbo kit. What if i take out the butterflies and then get a tune after would there be gains then? Im running a fully ported manifold and throttle body from P2R if that matters.

I dont think there would be any gains on a N/A motor by removing the butterflies all together. I would leave the IMRC active so you get the gains from the lower RPM with it closed and gains at the higher RPM with it open. The harmonics of the stock Upper Intake Manifold (UIM) are most realized when the motor is Naturally Aspirated (N/A).

ok so my car is running really rich. my muffler tips are all black and theres rumbling from the driver side exhaust. should i leave it open?

I removed my ButterFlies
and the low end torque is perfect for me cause at a takeoff i dont spins as much and whn vtec kicks in its a great Gain!!!
