which intake?

Hi guys:
i am new to the forum and i was wondering which intake i should get for a 3.2 CL -P. The airbox from Comptech seems to give good gains and also my be harder to hydrolock the car, while the AEM V2 available for the 3.2 CL-P seems to give more performace from all the rest....AEM claims of up to 18hp gains on the new Accord V6...What do you guys think as a first performance mod?

I have had both on my CL-s. I would have to say the Icebox all the way. I like the sound as well as the look of the Comptech over the AEM. The AEM is a bit louder, but IMO more on the ricey side. Also the hydrolock issue was a huge concern for me. Unless you plow through some flood water, you should be fine with the Icebox. I've heard that the bypass will help, but it is not a 100% cure.

S far as intakes go don't buy based on which one is gonna give you more power. At the most you'll only be getting maybe 1-2hp more out of one then you would the other.

The Icebox is a stock looking and pretty much stock sounding intake. It will give you a slight growl over stock but nothing compared to the AEM. The AEM looks no where near stock and even on a CL-P at VTEC it will let off a loud, and some say intoxicating, growl.

I preferred the more subdued look and sound so i went with the icebox.

a friend of mine bought the comptech and i bought the AEM...

AEM sounds awesome and looks hot...

like everyone else said.. the comptech ai fits the CL like a stock assembly and it also uses a foam filter...

this is one of those questions like: wing or no wing, with mudflaps vs without mudflaps... the HP gain isnt really significant to make you sway to one way...

The water is an issue with the AEM and the water bypass is a peice of shit, it kills the sound and doenst even work that well....

Price is another story... my AEM was $215 ive seen them for cheaper too

i havent checked but im almost sure the comptech is like $ 324,954.28 j/k

your best bet is to try to find someone near you with each then you decide....

I paid about $240 for my Icebox. Price is relatively similar. Also, I forgot to mentions before, that you can replace the foam filter with one from K&N.

Go comptech if you can afford it. A majority of this website would agree.

Do a quick search looking for 'icebox vs. aem' like THIS

All boils down to personal preference, as said. If you want more sound, AEM. Stock-looking and stock-sounding, Icebox. I paid $187.53 shipped for my AEM from cardomain.com's store. Pretty good deal.

Go find someone local that has both.

I personally like the sound of the AEM.

i guess i would go with the Icebox...i dont plan to do other mods right now, so i dont think i will see too much power increase, plus my gf drives the car and she will complain about the sound. if its kind of loud. I will wait till she gets a new car so i can just go ahead and have headers and exhaust at the same time. Thanks everyone!

Aris26, PM one of the vendors. They will have a better deal than Comptech. I got mine from blxmjx. Smooth transaction.
