Insurance rates and a manual CLS

Insurance rates and a manual CLS
I'm under the impression that a manual CLS with some good tires would probably run about mid to upper 5's in the 0-60. Do you guys think this would put the CLS into a far higher insurance premium category? This would put the CL in the Camaro SS/Corvette hardtop range--would it be put in the same class insurance-wise as these cars?
Might be one more reason why Acura chose not to offer a manual with the CL. Simply too fast.
Oh to imagine what a CLS with headers and Intake would run.

Well, don't hold your breath for a manual. However, even if the performance was the same as a Camaro Z28, the insurance still would probably not be. Insurance companies know that many more young people have Camaro's than CLs. Also, the death rate is a lot higher and would remain a lot higher with the Camaro. It's not just the speed of a car that makes the insurance high.

insurance rates are also dependent on whether the car has a high theft rate. believe it or not the rates for camrys and accords are a bit higher than say their domestic counterparts the alero or the taurus.

I wouldn’t buy a manual just because it might be a tick faster in a straight line.
I would want it for better control in the twisties.
I actually feel safer in a manual trans car because I have more control of the car.
This is speaking with 17-years experience of “mixing” my own gears.

Shawn,
I starting driving in 1973 at the age of 13....a 1949 Chevy PU. Collum shift, I can't agree with you more ! My first automatic was my 98 Accord coupe EX-V6, I just replaced that tranny at 78K, cause I didn't know how to drive it........Today, I have NO interest in shifting, SS is maxed out for me.
