I am filing a claim on my policy (my car was hit while parked) now my ins. company says that I could either file it on my comprehensive coverage or the uninsured mororist coverage. The deductible is the same for both ($250) but I get rental reimbursement with the 2nd option for which I also have to file a police report. Now I don't really need a rental, is it worth filing a police report? is there any difference at all between the two, like is either one of them more likely to make a difference to my premium?

I think that’s up to your agent to recommend which is better for you.
Every state and company has different ways of calculating how claims affect your future rate.

And you don’t give your location so we can’t even help you out by personal experience.

Hopefully they’re honest with you and suggest the proper thing to do.
