Insurance

Who do you guys find as a reliable insurance company? I'm in the middle of reconsidering insurance companies for the house and auto since my home has gone up quite a bit (damn those AZ fires!)....but my auto insurance seems pretty good. I'm gonna check with the big name insurance companies (Farmers, Allstate, MetLIfe, 21st Century, etc. etc)...but wanted your feedback since everyone here may have dealt with different companies. What are you impressions of them?

I have allstate and I am very happy with them. Good rates, good service. They have offices all over and I have found the people to be very helpful. Their coverage applies to anything physically attached to the vehicle, which is great if you put a lot of stereo or other equipment in the car. Some other companies charge extra for insurance on stereos and the like.

If you are in Phoenix area they have a location at scottsdale/mcdowell area and the people there are pretty good. Helped me out a lot when my car got stripped last year THREE TIMES. gotta love AZ huh.

I was a GEICO customer for a long time. Was always happy with them (don't ever get hit by someone with GEICO or you're screwed, but as a customer you're OK). They had the lowest rates around with pretty decent service. New wife several years ago gave me access to USAA and even lower rates so I had to leave.

I've gotten auto quotes from 21st Century, Geico and Farmer's and a home quote from Farmer's. I currently have State Farm for both. From what I see so far, my homeowner's with State Farm is higher than that of Farmer's....so I may look into switching that. But my auto costs from State Farm are far better than the other ones. Even without any claims for the quotes, State Farm still beat them all. If you factor in the claim I had when my Integra was totalled, State Farm by far crushes them all. I've been with State Farm for that past 13-14 years and since I've been pretty clean except this one incident, they give you 1 free for all where your rates don't go up. Only thing I don't like about State Farm is that there are no claim specialists to help you if you get into an accident on a weekend or late at night. They have people to take down the claim info, but nobody that can actually give you answers to your specific questions.
