Installation costs for sways!!

I called my dealership today and casually inquired to about to the cost of Comptech sway installtion. They quoted me 7 hours labor...roughly $600 after tax...just for labor!!! Is this really that hard? I saw a few horror stories about stripped bolts and such but it doesn't seem like it should be that hard. What do you guys think? Do it myself or look for a cheaper installer?

to remove 12 bolts and re-install them take 7 hrs...!!!That is insane... did you ask the dealer service rep to show you how much they do charge Acura for warranty work on sways.. I am 100% sure there is a Guide book for each Item to be replaced....

Myself, it took me 1 hrs to get the rear replaced and 1.5 hrs to fo the front a bit more complicated due the way you have to sneak out the sway bar....

And I do not have a single power/air tool either...

I paid $100. I went to three different places, and they all quoted 1.5 hours.

Oh. And you should be happy your dealer even quotes non-Honda stuff. Both the Acura and Honda dealerships in my area won't install aftermarket stuff at all, not even Comptech. Maybe your dealer quoted it so high because he doesn't like to do aftermarket installations, or maybe it's just because he doesn't think you'll shop around.

Installation charges

I went to theHonda dealership took them 45min and cost $75 to get it installed, Iwas watching them the entire 45min.. man that tech ven took his time.. waiting for the muffler and pipes to cool down... If he is in a hurry I think 3o min tops!

Don't pay $600 for labor that is insane... labor for struts and springs is only a 4 hours job which is about $300-450. There is no way it will take 7 hrs...

They them to FU^K OFF...$600 is INSANE!!!! Cost should be around $70-80. I installed the rear bar myself...didn't need to jack up the car or anything....i'll probably have a shop do the front.

Ouch. It's pretty sad the dealer is trying that hard to f00k you. You should tell him you don't want it and you'll never go to him ever again for trying to f00k you... and spread the word.

This type of dishonesty f00king blowz...

That is such a ridiculous quote. There has got to be a mistake. Took myself and son 2 hours and I'm notoriously slow!

I am getting the springs installed and called them up after they ordered the springs and asked if I added the sways also, how much labor would they charge. They said they would do the sway for an additional $50 which I thought was reasonable. So, springs AND sways I am paying about $400 total in labor from the Acura dealer.

Even the Comptech site says sways should only take 2-3 hours to install.

Call the dealer and asks what do they have to do that would take 7 hours. Also, asks them do it take 7 hours to remove and put back about 12 bolts. This

Tell that dealer to go f#%@^ himself!!! This is insult to your intelligence, man! At the the first Park Ave meeting, Jens installed the bars for me under 20 minutes, but that's Jens for you . The whole thing was under $400 including bars
