I haven't used an icebox, so I could only speak for the Injen. The car does sound deeper, more aggressive. When I took the car out for a spin after I put the intake in, I could definitely feel a boost in power around 3rd gear or so.

With the icebox you can rest assured that your car will never hydrolock. I bought a hydroshield for my Injen CAI, which is like a pre-filter glove-type piece that fits over the air filter. Injen says it blocks out water without choking off any incoming air. They said the only way water can get into the intake is if the car is submerged in water. But regardless, there is still always a chance. I still get a little bit nervous when I'm driving and it's pouring out. Just watch out for the bigger puddles

it isn't? I just had my stock box off this week to replace it since one of the bolts broke and the tab broke off when I was trying to extract the nut and the big ass hole leads right down though the fender and you can see the bumper cover...? Am i missing something here other than a larger filter?

Nope, that hole leads down to the resonator. If the resonator isnt there, then someone pulled it out. Without it brings in a bit of cool air, but not alot as there is no snorkle.

According to Injen, they're the only dyno-tuned CAI for the CL, I believe. Just what they're saying

Well I dunno if Injen considers the icebox a CAI as opposed to....something else. That post was mostly directed at the inclusion of AEM, though.

ice box is a cai. it draws air from outside the engine bay, same place and injen or aem would take the air from.

Oh, I guess I had the wrong picture in mind... I've never seen the icebox in person, and I guess it shows.

Excelerate has them. I installed my Ice Box for the mighty CLS6 on Sunday night. Honestly my stock intake with the resonator removed sounded louder even without going WOT but for a CAI, I'm reassured I won't inhale water in rainy azz Seattle like I did with the AEM CAI I had several years ago in another ride.

I was debating long and hard about these 2 products and really it came down to how much I'd like it when I open the hood.

I thought Injen was like 10 hp BTW... you cannot feel 5-6 maybe 7 hp. and I surely felt the top end gains.

I know this bitch puts down 10 at least. I think the CT one is prolly more than 11. 13prolly.

So CT 13.... injen 10... I would imagine

for -3 hp I'll go for looks. And when u shut the car off the car HISSES so loud! luv it!

Other v6 3.0 or more with an intake on other cars gets at least 12-13 hp. hell the grand prix gets almost 20 of a K&N

People have told me before YO ur car is fucked bro... and I just start laughing at them. hahah

I don't think u can go wrong with either of the 2. it's personal preference. I am not concerned with hydrolock since I drive cautious and will see the river flowing before I drive through/into it. Cause That is the only way ud be in enough water to actually lock up the motor.

I got a question,
If I'm running my stock box with resonater section removed with a k+n drop in it really would not be worth me even spending a couple of hundred $$ on a CAI since I would gain only a couple of horse never even felt.Right?
With the resonater box removed it has so much suction it will suck you hand right to it from like 4-5 inches away.
Also I'm not running the inner fender liner so it gets plenty of fresh air.
The only part I would change is the flex part of the intake tube to a smoother flowing tube

i totally agree with you on that one, that was one aspect i didn't like about CT design... but hey no one is perfect.

life is a game of give and take, you just need to find ur preferable balance

Thats what I have and i've wondered the same thing but reading previous threads, the increase to icebox would only be a few HP. not really worth it for the extra 150 dollars for me.

if it really bothers people, they can connect a hose to the bottom tube where the resonator used to go and run it to the front of the car to the space under the grill. that way you know you have cold air and a bit of ram air action.

It wasn't even a river flowing for me. It was driving in this lovely Seattle rain on the freeway. Maybe it was the design of the CAI for the 99 Eclispe IDK. I hydrolocked that biatch though. A week later, i was parting it out and sold it. That was back in 2000 so I'm sure a lot has changed but in this city, the closest I'm willing to get to AEM or Injen is this Ice Box. Gives me extra piece of mind.

piece of mind is hard to put a price on also, I feel ya.

If I had rain all the time here I'd be with CT prolly also.. but i'd have to be in vancouver for that to happen. And although I do like rain... it's a bitch for traffic and traction, that's where I wish I just had a lil huvercraft and scoot over w/e I damn well please. Hell u could even run over people and they'd just be bruised up, dirty and temporarily def LOL..... i'm wack

Meh I got a weapon R short ram intake for a tl-s got me a 4 in 3 in long piece of pipe and made my own adapter so it would fit, it only cost me 100 bucks total.

Just not a fan of the cold air intakes I used to live in a very rainy climate main reason why I have a short ram, and it sounds beasty.

I heard most SRIs make you lose a .1 in 1/4 mile cause it sucks in warmer air from the engine bay. Throttle response is increased like crazy but actual speed is a ?

I may be wrong but i'm pretty sure I'm right... no?

Who knows, I had a cold air intake but it didn't make as much power as my short ram with the new filter element im running now.

And there really is no heat in the engine bay once you are moving.

Im just using what works for me, every car I had had a short ram intake.
