injen cold air intake

anyone with a review of this for a cl-s

how deep would a puddle have to be in order for water to be sucked up?

does this also come with a K N filter like the AEM?

i have read miixed review on K N filter over at the tl board...anyone wish to comment on the comptech high flow air filter?

RE: the suck up the water bit.

1. Some poor soul in Texas popped his engine with stock intake after runing through an intersection (this was the general consensus)...

2. The stock and AEM pull water from a height near that of the bumper (in the ballpark -- ok)

3. The question that has me concerned is... When you have the driver's tire and wheel perpendicular to 1- to 2-inches of fast running water (intersections with handicap ramps), there is quite a bit of water damming up against the tire and wheel (close to where the water *could* get directed near the intake’s area).

So, do ya feel lucky?

I'm ordered the Bypass Valve for my AEM and installation is ASAP (in So Cal)...

(I've asked the puddle question, and opinions seem to vary...)

BTW -- I believe the Injen is higher up *and* one of the auto part's sellers wanted to know if I planned on "boating"...

You are talking about and how there is a few opinions that think the K&Ns will let all kind of stuff in to destroy the engine.... Who knows for sure?

The Comptech is foam -- they should make good stuff -- yes/no???

Hmmm.... Why was it that the oiled foam elements on my Webber Side drafts let dirt in (that I could see as black junk where the fuel would spit back) -- Who knows about that too...

Link to Ford site with "blather" about K&N being used by various vendors. There is even a note about the K&N being used on Apache helicopters (to replace the stock elements) during desert storm.

Welcome to controversy…

i also read this on tl board:

"BTW, you do need to reset your ECU after installing an intake so that it can relearn the airflow patterns and adjust the fuel-mapping."

is that right?

it will re-learn anyways, just take longer. just disconnect the negative battery terminal for 20 minutes and you'll have reset the maps.
