Injen CAI installed...easy as pie

Received my Injen CAI yesterday...decided to install it after work today. It was fairly easy until it started raining...right after i pulled the battery and gutted the OEM tubing. Had to push the car into the garage...damn this car is heavy.

Anyway, as everyone has said in the past, the CAI is the best mod, and of course I totally didn't regret the $200.00 I spent on this piece.

The sound is NOT noticable until VTEC kicks in, and even then it's not an obtrusive "blaaaaaah" like it was in my Integra.

Check out these pics I took in the dark.

Well, trust me, it took a lil bit of frantic searches on a-cl.com before I could find the correct instructions/pictures. The diagrams that Injen gave me sucked. Printed in black/white and it was no way near what I did. I threw the two page instruction out from the beginning.

chikai,

Your Installation looks great.

Would you be so kind as to post the link to the correct instructions/pictures for those of us that are considering this mod at some point in the future ?

I used ChodTheWacko's installation steps for removing the OEM intake piping. Once everything was removed it was fairly easy. The confusing part was getting the two red hoses routed the correct way and connected to the right nipple.

There wasn't a set of instructions for the second part per say. All I did was look at a few images that were posted of the Injen install and figured it out myself.

If you look at the image below:

1) Remove the OEM metal Vacuum/Radiator Fluid tubes. It looks like two metal pipes welded together.

2) Follow the remaining Radiator Fluid hose until it goes into the engine block (it's easier to see from behind the engine)...remove all that.

3) Follow the remaining Vacuum hose until it goes into the front of the engine (may need to remove partial plastic engine cover)...remove all that.

4) Run the thicker tube from the Vacuum nipple in the front of the engine to the nipple attached to the front of the CAI piping

5) Use the stock Vacuum hose in the rear of the CAI and attach it to the rear nipple on the CAI piping

6) This is very important...the second RED hose that Injen gives you does not attach anywhere on the CAI. It actually replaces the stock Radiator Fluid hose that should have been removed by now. You want to reroute the smaller red hose to the back of the engine and down into the middle of the block (this is the rear red hose you see in the picture)

When I do a search for Injen products at autocarparts.com, I get "Sorry, no results found for this search!"

yeah...i thought that autocarparts.com had it in the past, but when I went on the site to purchase it last week they didn't have the 3.2 CL Type-S Injen CAI...just the AEM.

I bought mine from www.ptuning.com Very fast service...ordered on Thursday, received on Monday. Plus they were offering free shipping.

I got it for Christmas. I know he carried it b/c that's the guy who runs acura-tl.com and sponsored us for a while!!

Try this link....
http://www.autocarparts.com/search/r...el=157&trim=11

If it doesn't work... all you need to do is go to the Intake section, put in Acura CL TypeS, and it will come up.....

edit - hmmm, looks like he only lists AEM... wierd. You may want to email him... sales@autocarparts.com . Tim is very responsive, so you should have an answer quickly....

It looks like it's ptuning.com cause autocarparts.com doesn't carry Injen. Thanx

chikai, or someone, can you repost the image, or an image, of a "proper" CAI install. I just ordered an Injen and want to do it right.

LOL. This thread is from 2002. Go to www.injen.com They sometimes have pics of installed intakes on the vehicle. They also include instructions on how to install the intake.

Yeah, I know it is an old thread but I just thought I'd try...and see someone replied! Thanks. I checked the injen site. The 2001 (my year), doesn't have an installed pic but the 2002 does so that's good enough. Thanks for the tip.
