Injen CAI and Bypass broke. Can I run short ram?

I heard a weird humming noise from my engine last night when I started her up. I popped my hood to find the AEM bypass valve had split and was leaking air. I then looked to see what might have caused this and I noticed that the rubber mount piece holding the bottom half of the Injen intake had ripped off and the weight of the CAI had split the bypass valve

So I yanked the entire bottom half off and took the air filter and plugged it on the top half of the intake...where the bypass valve used to be.

Is there a problem running like this? It definitely idles much louder and still has a weird humming noise...really dam annoying. Has anyone done this?

Sorry to hear the demise of your CAI Short ram is ok, but you may want to disconnect the battery to have it reset like you did with the CAI. However, in the long run, you are not getting as much gain as the CAI due to high temperature under the hood.

Just buy a 3" silicone coupler and join the CAI pieces.

My bypass valve didn't break, but I did that anyway. Works great.

so wait a second... I didnt disconnect my battery before the install of my AEM CAI because I didnt wanna be bothered with finding the codes for my radio and navi, Ive had no probs at all thus far but the fact that I didnt disconnect the battery is my car not reaping all of the benefits of the CAI?

supposedly disconnecting your battery resets the ECU making it relearn with the new mod. If you don't do that, it will just relearn slowly over time, you're fine.

went to Lowe's...

picked up a 3" rubber tubing... but it turns out it was the "Extra" large 3" rubber tubing... so I basically got screwed. They didn't have anything else so I said f-it...

plus that was when I noticed the rubber mount that attaches to the side wall of my car was ripped off.
