I really enjoyed how this thread worked out. In the end, this 'kid' was really just flaunting. Esp. him being 17, it adds to the point. I dont even think he is involved in this decision with his family.

Clean cl-s, nothing against you, but I hope you understand how this worked out against you. It's nice for your parents to have to make this decision, but I am not really sure how you are involved in this process.

The question, as I see it, is NOT whether his mom should get the AMG or the Ferrari.

The questionS are:

1) Do his parents care where the 17yo in the family thinks they should spend their $150K

2) Will his mom ever let him drive it

3) Which one would he rather drive

Here's what I'm thinking:

The answer to question #1 is No way.

The answer to question #2 MAY be a Yes.

And as for question #3, well then:

The AMG is nicer to live in, but if I'm only getting quick spins to run errands, then I want, and therefore I want her to want, the Ferrari.

Hell, if she winds up hating it, then I can have the hand-me-down.

Personally i think this post is getting really ugly. His parents are the ones with the money, he is not. Your parents are the ones making the decision, you are not.

 

Oh don't throw that "this one is faster" bullshit. They are both so fucking fast it doesn't matter which one is faster. When u spend 120k plus on a car, it shouldn't have an 80k "common" brother (now i am not knocking on the SL500 or the SL55....i am just pointing it out). The Ferrari is hot as hell and they are not as common as any SL. BUT, they aren't reliable. Are we talking about a spyder? Oh my recomendation is the Z8. More reliable than a Ferrari, not as common as an SL...sweet car...my bud has one and i love it!!!!

If this is serious...I would tell your mom to get an Sl500. I dont think I would want my wife driving a 493 HP rocket around. (knowing damn well women do stupid stuff in vans, let alone rocketships) SL500 is the same car minus the engine.

Yea.. I agree with Dkelly, ya need to chill out. If you dont like people showing their cars, who cares. Obviously theyre very proud of the fact that they can afford these types of cars. If I had a Ferrari I would probably put a picture of it in my wallet..if his parents get on, we will of course ask for pictures as that is the respectable thing to do.
BTW, you have any pictures of that TT?? Sounds pretty d^mn sweet.

well SL55 is a great car but won't turn heads like Ferrarri will... most people won't know the diff. between an SL55 and an SL500... either way both are amazing cars and you can't go wrong... just for the sake of daily driving I'd say go with the SL55...

 

I wouldn't exactly put "important" in the subject, but I'd go for the Ferrari no question about it.

 

Naw, its white. I actually enjoy driving my CL more than TT.
Its much more comfortable. When I drive the TT on the fwy, I can't even carry conversation w/the passenger or listen to the stereo. The interior's noise is just way too loud. Hope F360 will be better.

 

Why do you care if your parents buy a mercedes or ferrari? Its not like your money?? I find it quite ridiculous that you would really care either way if they bought a SL55 or 360.

I think you should just really stick yourself back into school and work your way up to being able to afford to buy those cars someday.

Trust me, 2x your age now, when you look back you'll find yourself wondering why you ever asked these stupid questions in the first place.
