important question
ok guys, i've looked for this info for about an hour now, and i'm sh!t up a creek. i'm trying to find any info that's come from BMW about plans to put all-wheel drive in their 5-series sedans. any info would b greatly appreciated.

They're probably testing the 3-series market first to see if they want to incorporate that drivetrain in their 5-series. If the xis don't sell..you proabably won't see it in a 5-series.

hmmmm, doesn't make much sense. around here, noone has the all-wheel drive. wouldn't it b worthwhile to use all-wheel drive on the M3 and M5??

That would take away from the driving experience. The consensus among..."real drivers" is that nothing handles like a rear wheel...period.

i beg to differ. all-wheel drive gives u so much control, it's hard to do a 360 even on grass. if people want raw power, rear drive is the way to go, but i can't tell u how many times i've seen back ends fish out b/c there's so much power. all-wheel drive does give some power away, but i wouldn't think it would b so much that it's really noticeable. maybe i'm wrong.
