well, i went from a gorgeous 96 GST to a 01 3.2 cl (and omg base model...kill me) and im feeling pretty shitty about it. I've been looking at the forum and so far, ive concluded that there's absolutely nuttin you can do to this car. i mean, yeah i read bout you guys puttin in catbacks n headers and all that, but.. aiight, isn't this car considered a "luxury" car, and making it loud would just make it look silly. but please, convince me that im wrong so i can feel better. there's nuttin for appearance either, so far all i thought about doing it gettin 18" maya chrome rims and dropping it. soo.. i need all of you ppl to help me out, and lemme know what i can do to my car... PLEASE, no RICEY ideas. Make me happy!!

if i was so happy with my eclipse, then why did i sell it? i had no choice, father forced it. he said the turbo was too much for me, daddy dunno what his little girl can handle...

headers don't make the car louder than stock just slightly deeper exhaust tone. Intake is loud only in Vtec above 4800 rpm personally waiting for the Comptech Ice-box due out next month.....only slightly louder than stock. So far the best products for this car are made by Comptech so check their website out.

well where in new york are you cuz ihave intake/exhaust/headers/drop, etc and if you wanna hear how it sounds and see how it looks dropped i dont have a problem showing you.

the headers will add decent HP...get OBX for 300 bucks, they arent loud at all..they sound different than stock, but not loud. remove the intake resonator and get a k&n drop in filter, that is as good as a CAI and its nowhere near as loud.

Glad you found us. Welcome. Although there isn't near the number of performance products and choices available as some cars, options are growing. 30 to 40 horsepower gains are readily available. Lighter wheels = horsepower. Keep posting and reading, all will be revealed. Siezeya. Ummm...since we don't get a lot of ladies entering this site, don't judge us all on a few off color remarks. Congrats on the car. I think you'll wind up liking the CL better than the Eclipse in the long run.

Guys, I think she mentioned she has a CL-P. Aren't the header gains on P's only like 15HP? Full price Comptechs might not be cost effective.

I have the Injen CAI, and it is only noticable in VTEC. If you do just daily city driving, chances are, you will rarely go into VTEC. The only time I really go that high in the RPM range is on freeway entrance ramps and when I blast through tunnels in 2nd gear.

If your dad thought you couldn't handle the GST, what was he thinking buying you a 220hp car? You don't really have to ask him, but I was just wondering what his logic was.

Get these items and you will be plenty happy with your car:
- Comptech Springs and Koni Yellow adj struts
- or full coilovers (TEIN SS, Apexi)
- Comptech Sways
- Neuspeed or Comptech upper strut brace
- Headers (OBX? or if you have the money Comptech)
- Comptech Exhaust
- Injen or AEM CAI (only diff is appearance) or wait for the Comptech ICE box which will be much quieter
- Tires: Yoko ES100 or Sumitomo HTR+
- 18" wheels (you're getting Mayas??? bling bling and $$$)
- 2003 tail lights (white on top vs all red that you might have)
- get in on that SEMA lip spoiler group buy (see sticky in "car talk")
- tint

There...that should be enough to keep you busy for a while. As you can see all these products can be readily purchased...nothing on that list is one off. Are you still complaining there are not enough mods for the CL?

The Eclipse and the CL are SUCH different cars. Don't get me wrong...the GST is a sweet ride. I thought about it back when I ended up buying my Prelude (brand loyalty, sorry!) but the CL is classy. No spoilers sitting 1.5 feet off the back deck (yeah, that will help) or crazy body kits straight out of Fast and the Furious (okay, there are a couple kits out there but they look bad). There is plenty you can do to make the CL fast and pretty. You should feel like you stepped up into the CL. Is the CL flashy? No. you'll get less speeding tickets with it I bet!

Check out the gallery section. A lot of people here have real nice cars that look a LOT better than the Eclipse in my opinion. Of course I am probably a lot older than you since you daddy took your car away. I am guessing that there are stories about why daddy thinks the turbo is too much for you (and a 3.2L engine isn't???).

If it's not a driver issue, than it's all good.

Now back to your question, believe it or not, the CLP is actually pretty quick too, my ex has a 2000 TLP and when I drove it, it felt like it pulls just about as hard as the Type S's, so don't feel bad. Plus, once you slap some rims on and drop the car to a more aggressive stance, the car will look just as good.

Fellas, I don't think she wants to make it faster, just cooler looking. I think you're on the right track with rims and a drop. XKraziX is making a nice suble rear spoiler I think you should check you. '03 Taillights are a nice improvement too, along with clearing the orange out of the front headlights for a cleaner look. Here's a picture of my Base '01 CL to give you an idea of what you can do. I have Comptech springs and 20" Davin spinning rims on it in this pic.

Let's try to remember guys that an 01 with some miles on it can probably be had for $20K. Isn't a car around that can give sport and luxury and mod potential for that cash like the CL(S). IMO dropped and 18's, hell even 235/17's and you can sport a sweet ride for some time.

Speaking of 01's. I got my gold one in April '00. Can I tell what production number it was by the VIn or something esle? Seems to me it would have been VERY close to the first 100 or so released.

nyczbebe: if you find comptech stuff that you like, I suggest checking out the Comptech section of this forum. There's a member on here by the username Deanbluesi who has given me very competitive pricing for Comptech products. I would avoid buying items from Acura or from the Comptech page.
