I'm an idiot

Today I replaced my windshield wiper linkage assembly because it was slamming down. Then I go on the forum and see that all I needed to replace was the plastic caps on the end of the linkages. I should know better as I usually check here first for everything - this site is an awesome resource. To add insult to injury, when I replaced it I originally indexed the motor wrong so up was down and down was REALLY down! LOL I got it straightened out of course and now it works like a charm. What should have taken 45 minutes took me a hour and a half. On the bright side I'm wiser because of it.

normally the caps only come with the linkage itself, so not really replaceable seperate

how did you index the motor wrong???, you mean the wiper arms themselves???

btw: don't wipe the snow with your wipers after the car has been sitting, if you don't want it to break again

There is an arm that gets bolted down to the wiper motor and it has an arrow on it. I figured out the hard way that I should have matched the location of the arrow on the new linkage assembly. I ended up 180 degrees out and thus when the motor turned on for the first time, the blades went down the windshield instead of going up. It was easily fixed.

so both of you bought part #10 :shakehead
at:http://www.hondapartsunlimited.com/i...NDSHIELD WIPER

normally you just replace part #11 or #12 (both of them include the neccesary white caps), don't kow what one of yours popped off (more then likely it looks like it would be #11), if it was #11, it is like $20

as long as you don't wipe the snow off that has accuminlated on the windshied from being parked for a peroid of time, they can easily last the life of the vehicle,
so get out and actually manually brush the shit off your windshield, and don't expect the wipers to do everything

I live in California and my car has virtually never seen snow so that couldn't have contributed to my failure. However, I got 184K miles before the issue started so I'm not disatisfied.

so it has seen snow , but even those few times can contribute to it popping off early, hell like 2 weeks after i got my old 94 accord, the linkage popped off on me when it was raining, with not even a possibility of snow (it was summer time), so the damage had already been done by the previous owner, and that was only at like 70,000 miles too, but yeah can't really complain about your 184k miles though , ALOT can happen in that mileage, and a domestic proably would have never even made it to that mileage in the first place

i thought it was more because you put the motor's arm on backwards , but i guess i kinda misread it/misunderstood it a little , that you had replaced everything minus the motor itself
