Ignition Coil
I would like to ask everyone for you suggestion:
I have readings from 6 coils, and all of them are different, what I want to find out is if higher OHM reading is better than lower: for ex'
my 3 coils have reading 1.956, 1.956, 1.945
and
my 3 other are in the range of 1.865
do you think that this would cause a missfire or a poor engine performence.
Because when I was told - that the lower OHM it means better condition of the coil..
So, my question is what is the right reading:
is it the higher - better
or is the lower - better
I dont know which one to change, I changed one and it seemed to have better result
Thank You for your time

Do you have a CEL and a code for misfire?

Maybe you can buy a new one and test the OHM's on that one? That way you will see if lower or higher is better...
Oh and just some logical thinking, if the OHM's are lower, wouldnt that mean that electricity flows more freely through it?

Does Helm's give a spec on what the readings should be? That's really what you're looking for - if it's out of tollerance.

thanks for all replies.......
I don't know if the little difference about the coils would make the car misfiring.
When for ex. 1 coil has = 1.865 and 2nd coil has =1.955
Would that paly a huge role on the performence? or which one is better?

I just looked throught the Service anual and I cant find jack about ohm readings on coils or even trouble shooting or replacing. there is only a section on page 4-18 showing their location. wierd.

Once again thanks for all replies...
When I check the coils no matter when they cold of warm, they still have the same readings...
I will go tomorow to a dealership and I'l check one of theirs coil....I really want to know how big of a effect would have the diiference.

dealers coil
I checked the dealers coil, anyhow its a after market - but the reading is 1,96ohm....does anyone think that if 3 coils have reading in the range of 1,8.., and 3 other have 1.9... would that cause the problem...my car is running rough. I replaced one coil the one with the lowest readings, and the car drives completely different...it drives sluggish, but it has the kick when you accelerate...and it does hesitate from time to time...when i asked acura technician if he sees a lot of these coils...he asked what car?..I said cL..HE SAID YES....so watch out everyone ...did any of you cleaned your EGR valve?

Ok so, let us put the puzzles together - help me out here:
Dealers coil: 1.96
My coils: 3 - 1.86, 3 - 1.92
And your coil is: 1.85 - 1.86
If dealers is the most accurete one, than your car should act up same as my, but yours doesn't right?
So, maybe there is something more in my car that is mulfunctioned

Sorry to bump and old thread but I have the similar resistance on my coils. 2 of mine are 1.95 and the rest are 1.85~. Did you ever replace them? Did it make a difference?
