If you were to buy

I may be in the market for another Acura soon, depending on how much longer my second tranny lasts.

I still want an Acura so, which one would you suggest? I'm looking for a used, certified car, because I had good service from AcuraCare with mine (I'm out of my 7/100,000 warrenty now). I'd be looking for somthing about three years old.

I know the CL's have tranny issues (believe me, I know first hand). I've also heard some of the TL's do too. What do they make that doesn't have the infamous tranny issue? What about the TSX? Just don't want to get into another car payment and have to deal with the "tranny thing".

What do you guys think or have you heard?

I'm not getting rid of mine yet, but just want some opinions in case I end up getting a new one.

Thanks!
W

Only one Acura will do if you want 2 doors. 03 CLS 6 speed. No tranny issue, more fun to drive, rarer. Pretty good prices on them too, it'll just take a while to find one. if you want a sedan get the TL 6 speed. I don't trust Acura and automatics.

Who knows when any new Acura coupe will be out as good as the CLS 6 speed.

I may be willing to part with my '03 CL-S Auto w/ Navi blk/blk 45k miles, if I can get a fair price for it. If you are interested, let me know and I can email pics.

Well if I "HAD" to buy an acura right now, I guess it would be an MDX or new style RL

1 Almost bought the RSX, but it was too small inside
2 Would love to have the NSX, but I don't want a car that costs almost as much as my house
3 new TL is ok, but I don't really like the styling

Go my route ------- Im hoping my next car will me a 2006+ Mustang Shelby GT500

If you can handle a standard transmission the CLS 6spd is a great way to go. Prices are decent, and the auto tranny issue, well, isn't an issue...

If you want a more fuel efficient car (with less power) the TSX might work for you too, but since you're got a 3.0 now (v6), it might be a little of a let down for you to goto a 4 banger.

TSX prices on the used market haven't dropped enough to justify buying used IMHO. You can get a new tsx for 27K, so buying a used one for 23K with 30-40K miles on it doesn't make much sense to me.

Fuk.....

I guess I was talkin' about the RSX, ...... Not the TSX. The TSX is a (little) Higher dollar than I'd be lookin for. Also a little too new (cost wise). And now that I look at it, the RSX seems to be a pretty small car. Although cool,,,,, Prol. too small for me.

Six Speed Manual............Hmmmm.

123456SPEED:

Is the 03 the only one with a dependable tranny? What about the prevous year (manual trans)?

Not really looking for a manual transmission, but if I can get 100,000 + mi out of it.............

I used to have an RX7 - 5 speed, You don't even know the abuse that dude took. I don't mind shifting. Manual GOOD!!! (At times). I don't drive em' like I used to ( the shit gets expensive!!).

I absoloutly LOVE my CL. Fun to drive, and looks great.. I only owe $3,400 on it, and can only hope it's worth more than that.

This Acura Automatic tranny thing is killing me though. I still love Acura,,,,, but Fuck!!!!!!!!!!

The reason he suggested the 03 sixspeed is because that was the only year it was available with a manual. Also they didn't make too many of them being a one year car so good luck finding a good one

I looked at the RSX too, but decided that it was "too small" for me... My last car had a v8 (94 tbird) so the 4 cly. thing wasn't what I was into.

RSX is a nice car for the price... Just wasn't right for me. Looking back tho', it probably would have been something I could have learned to like.

You can find a 03 CLS 6spd for decent money too... one member (from RI) bought a 03 6spd for $14K (located in NH) with 92K miles... Most of them with average mileage (12K per year or less) will be in around $20K (18-22)...

The 03 6spds are out there... just do an autotrader search, and you find a few for sale... or check the black market here...

https://acurazine.com/forums/non-automotive-motorcycle-sales-9/

If I sold mine, I'd probably ask 20 for it, but there just isn't anything out there that has the combination of sport/luxury/decent gas mileage that I like right now (bmw 330, G35c, Mustang are ok, but not exactly what I'm looking for).
