if u were gonna buy a Rustang...
let's just say all issues aside, u were definitely gonna buy one...which would u rather have???
1, outdated body with a 390hp rocket engine, or
2, new bodystyle with only a 310hp engine
cuz that's basically what's gonna happen from the 2004 to the 2005 model year

id give it a year till the pump out a cobra with the new body style and 390+ HP.
sure, the 2005 GT may only have 310 (as if thats a small number ) but that new body style is fucking sweet.

I'm waiting to see what the new one looks like before I buy anything.....If it looks like the concept....I'M BUYING IT. I think the new body style Stang....in white with tinted windows would be hot as hell!

From Edmunds.com:
"A lower-cost version of the Lincoln LS' and Jaguar S-Type's rear-drive platform will be the basis for the next-generation Mustang, which finally drops its Fox-platform roots for more modern mechanicals."
I voted for the new platform. Resale will be alot better when you unload it.
I'm sure a "new" cobra mustang is just around the corner.

There's no way I'd buy an outdated Mustang right now when I know what's around the corner. Wait for the new body style cobra. You know it will have at least 390 hp, probably more to try and compete with the vette. That way you get the best of both your choices... the power and the looks.

The new stang might just get me out of the CLS-6 that I have now!!! I'm waiting to see the actual production version and give Ford a model year to work the kinks out due to their poor build quality in the initial release of new vehicles.

TQ > MPG
And the 88-92 had forged internals
I am sort of in the same dilemna. The 03 Cobra is so badass in that with a couple grand in mods it will run 10's on the stock bottom end and drivetrain. However, the bodystyle is a little long in the tooth now, and it is based off the 79 Fairlane :P
I think it depends on how much hp the GT has, and how good the heads flow. The Cobra really isnt a 1/4 mile car. It has very much upgraded springs/shocks/swaybars and a bullit-proof 6 speed, which the 05 GT will not have. If you just want the look of the new bodystyle, and can forego some rarity with the Cobra, then get a GT and throw a blower on it. The GT is getting a 3V 4.6L, which is rumored to flow nearly as good as a DOHC, but with much improved low end torque. Throw a Vortech on it and say buhbye to a stock 03 Cobra. The difference is that the GT wont have forged internals.
The GT will have (hopefully) a much improved interior and body architecture, so if you are anal about interior quality you might want to wait. The current design while being functional, is not very ergonomic, and has some flaws to say the least. The seats are nice however
Also, the 05 GT will still be solid rear axle, unlike the 03 cobra which is IRS.
In the end it's what you want out of the car. Do you want the new design with better quality, but less hp? Or the old platform with ok quality, but potential to run 11's without taking a valve cover off?
