Maybe ..... Maybe Not....

You won't know unless you do it. Just make sure you clean the surface well and put a few coats of wax. You should be fine...

The best way IMO to do it is to do it on a hot day. Peal the letters off. Take a terry cloth towel and pull the glue up words to remove most of the excess. Then take Windex to it and it should take most of it all off. Then throw on the wax for the final touch.

Good luck

Too bad you're not here in the NW... otherwise I'm sure Mattg will help you... he is very good, and has the right tools and materials to make your car look like it was debadged to begin with.

I wouldn't do it...

Paint fades regardless of color. And I don't see how a wax and a buffer is going to make the paint change colors.

IMHO, it will ghost.

Correct.
It matters more how the surrounding paint was treated, not what’s underneath the emblems.
On Silver he will probably be OK because it’s forgiving, but I definitely wouldn’t do it on a darker color like Black, Blue, Anthracite or even Red.

my car (the dark red color) was 5 years old when i debadged it and it looked they were never on there, i guess it depends on how well the car was maintained/cleaned.

I don't think the edge of the trunk fades that fast. Don't know what color or weather you have but I think it should be fine.
Esp if you kept it well waxed.

If there is a shadow, just go to the dealer and say someone stole your badges and you need a new one! How much could they be?
They prolly have the right tools and templates to put them back on properly

I'm running 44k miles on a 99 3.0CL. I just debadged my old puppy today. I used goo gone to remove that sticker stuff and it looked pretty good, though I saw some "tan lines"

About twenty minutes ago I washed it and applied a coat of liquid glass. I'm going to apply a couple more within the next day or two. Right now it's "baking". I'm hoping the "tan lines" will go away, but I doubt they will. From a few feet away it's not really noticeable, but about ten feet away you can clearly make out the acura and 3.0CL that was once there. Should this go away?

Also, should I have washed it with detergent seeing as I already had 4 coats of liquid glass underneath the areas where I applied the goo gone ( I used the spray gel, so it's a large area )

I'm thinking maybe the difference in color will go away after three or four coats of liquid glass on the acura and 3.0CL areas, but I'm kind of wondering whether I should also just rewash the trunk and rear bumber with diswashing detergent to remove all layers of liquid glass and start with a fresh slate. Or maybe I might just go to the dealer and tell them they were stolen in recent road trip and I tried to do without the badges....any ideas?

Mine seems less noticeable after a few hours of liquid glass "baking" I'll do a few more coats. I'm thinking that may be it, if not, someone tell me..haha

Why do we refer to our cars as dogs? You call yours a bitch, I call mine an old puppy, haha.

I'll try to get some pics up too.

A machine polisher and some Meguiars #3 compund would probably smooth it right out.
