In the same price range I've always liked the Maxima's, but wouldn't have bought a new one b/c of the styling. The only other car that is even close that I lust after is the GS400/430--but, I can't afford one of those so thank good ness the CL came along. I also considered the Accord coupe, but not many good things are said about that car so I'm glad I didn't(and they're only a few grand less than a CLS).

Black/black CL Type S Comptech springs, headers. Soon to have Konis and Comptech sway bars. PIAA 19169, Solaris high beams. Potenza RE730's 225/45/ZR17
...And I wonder where my money goes!

I read on the Mustang newsgroup the LS and Mustang will share a frame... whether that means they will share a platform I'm not sure. The Crown Vic, Grand Marquis, and Continental(??) all share the same frame...

I was always considering the IS300 even before the CL-S came out, but once I saw the CL-S with all of its glorious goodies, I couldnt even come close to justifying a IS300 purchase... And a four door car at that size wasnt me... If a coupe version of the IS300 existed and if it had similar options as the CL (like Navi), then I might have given the IS300 more of a consideration.... But if no CL...maybe a used 540 ('97 or '98)

Since I had just returned a BMW 540 to the dealer for a refund, and if the CL hadn't been around, I would probably be driving a Lexus GS400.

What was wrong w/ the 540? And you are allowed to just return cars if you dont like them? Isn't there a no cool down period or a lemon law or something? ::shrugs::

Please don't laugh, but if I were to buy a car NOW, and the CL-S doesn't exist, I would go for an auto RAV4 or Accord LX-V6 and drive it until something I really like comes along. Actually I really like the X5 but can't afford one right now!
But if the time frame was 5 months ago when I bought the CL-S, if it didn't exist then, I would have bought the Accord coupe V6.

It was a certified 1997 BMW 540. In the 3 months I owned it last year, the dealership (mostly jerks in the service department) had the car for 3.5 weeks. Numerous electrical problems (turning on the headlights caused engine RPM to increase ~200+ ... dealer said this was part of the BMW charging system), A/C didn't work, and other odds and ends.

It was indeed the CA lemon law that caused them to take the car back. Of course, it was on the lot the following week.

If they made a 4.6L versiou ls the Lincoln LS... I would have bought it rather than the CL. That is one powerfull V8. Maybe a convertible hardtop LS? THAT would be awesome!
Also... the 2003 Mustang will be on the same platforn as the LS and S-Type.

I would go with a new Max SE.

Ever since I saw the CL-S in the Yahoo auto section I was addicted. A week later I went to see if it was as beautiful in person as in picture. I test drove it, now I wake up in cold sweats every night as a white CL type-S blows the doors off my 95 Neon Sport with power windows! I can't take it anymore, maybe I won't make it to summertime!

------------------
C'mon summertime, my divorce bills will be paid and I'll be ready for that white Type S!

Ya know if i had about $250,000 i'd love to have an Aston Martin Vanquish. Have you seen this thing! It's freakin' sweet!!! 450 horses, 0-60 @ 4.5 sec, top speed 190mph, automatically shifted 6 speed manual (sportshift i'm assuming). But what gets me is how it looks. It's like a Beauty and the Beast in one car.
