Idling vs Cold Start
Idling vs Cold Start
Hi All,
So I have a remote starter, and it is freezing here, so in the morning I have to go out and start the car and leave it idling for a while (You can take the key out and the car will stay on for 5 minutes), anyway, so my friend and I were talking, and he says that when I'm running errands and stuff, I shouldn't leave the car idling. I think that leaving it idling is much better than turning it off and then on again in a couple of minutes... any thoughts on this??
Thanks.

Believe it or not, idling wastes more gas than shutoff and restart. If it's for the reason of keeping the car warm in winter, for a short period of time it's ok, but I wouldn't do it all the time.
